Said goodbye to my first lr rifle today

Sold my first thousand yard rifle today. Ga Precision Crusader .308. Kind of feels like letting go of your first "lady friend". Got a good price and it went to a good home. Optomistic though because I now have the funds to build my next rig. I've got a 29" 1:11.25 bartlein 5r coming and was wondering what would you guys do if you had a .308 barrel blank plus 3,000$ to build. Action, stock, ect...??

I would take my personal lessons learned from my first rifle and tweak it for what I wanted or felt the first rifle needed.

Got a 6.5 creedmor Ga Crusader as well.... I love it. .300 win mag 2 of them. I'm thinking about making this a strictly ftr rifle

Unless your going to shoot BR in the 308 class, getting a 6.5CM wouldn't be a bad idea. In some of the matches I've shot guys are shooting a 6mm CM. Good ballistics, Hornady brass is pretty good, not Lapua however still good. Won't beat you up.

I also agree, get the 6.5 in either 260 or Creedmoor! Got rid of my 308's for the flatter shooting 6.5 to use in tactical competitions. Almost everyone else seems to have done the same.

If you're going strictly ftr I'd go with a Kelbly F-class acition, and a highly adjustable stock of you're choice.

After two .308's, I am sending parts in for the Long rifles group buy for a fast twist .243.

300 norma magnum but the twist may be a little off with 1:11 I'd run 1:10
