I have been shooting this can on my aac blkout. Finally got another flash hider mount and shot it on my SASS. Seemed to shoot 2" low at 100. It seems to be repeatable so I am okay with that just curious if that is normal poi shift?

Also this can seems to work loose on my 308 SASS. What are some methods to keep this in place? Will blue loctite help?

Re: SAS 30cal can question?

If its repeatable on all the rifles just note the change and fire away.

Cans that dont have a locking mechanism will tend to loosen up on semi auto's. Its just a characteristic of the 3 recoils that semi's make. Ive had sunshades unscrew themselves under recoil from my AR10.

That is not always the case. My Ops Inc can's do not come loose under FA fire and I have run my TBAC can on a 300BLK upper and it doesn't come loose either. A locking mechanism doesn't always mean that the suppressor will stay on either. I have seen multiple fast attach suppressors come loose under fire, from both a bolt gun and semi/full auto use.

Re: SAS 30cal can question?

Read my statement again.....

I said "tend to come loose". Not they WILL come loose.
I have OPS INC suppressors as well and they lock up tight because of their mounting system. OPS is also not using a traditional lockup method. They use the 2 point system to their advantage.

My AAC, SF, YHM and other QD locking cans have never come loose. Not even on 100 round mag dumps on a FA HK416 that we did some testing with last winter.

So, not sure what you are doing to cause cans of that type to come loose but you might want to check their spring tension or QD brake for damage.

Re: SAS 30cal can question?

I have seen a couple of 18 tooth AAC suppressors come loose. Not to the point where the gun blew the suppressor off, but it's a known problem. One of the reasons why they switched the 762SD over to the 51 tooth design. There was also a couple of the 51 tooth locking latches from AAC that wasn't heat treated correctly that has failed. I could visibly see the suppressor spin on the rifle as it was being shot.

I have also witnessed a couple of SF's launch themselves down range after being "locked" down.

Re: SAS 30cal can question?

Must be operator error on the SF cans. They have the best lockup I have used and I've used and own a lot of suppressors.

The 18t AAC I can see doing that easily. The 51t maybe a little more hard to catch a regular case but if they latches were not up to spec then that could certainly contribute to its backing off.

Semi Auto's can be a pain in the ass to suppress and keep your function and reliability in a happy median. But people still do it.
