my mk4 er/t 8.5-25 has a total elevation range of 23.0mR (79moa)

since i hace a 20moa base (5.8mR)
and assuming my scope is set to factory zero
i get a total usable elevation of 17.3mR.

time to sight it in.

so ya, that mk8 you referenced for me is looking real good. </div></div>

Well at least your was close what the Leupold web site said. Picture?

Re: SAVAGE 338LM 1650 AND 1820 YARDS!!!

ha sweet. I like it. Reminds me of shooting clay pidgeons at 400 yds with my .22 (21.5 mils ele, hitting one in 5 shots roughly, usually holding 2-4 mils wind)

I highly reccommend at least a 30 moa base of extended long range shooting. Way more accurate than holding, even with hash marks. Thats what I put on my .22, and I dial almost to 500 yds.

Good stuff though.

Regards,
DT

Re: SAVAGE 338LM 1650YARDS!!!

My Savage 110BA .338 has a OAL of 3.83. 3.702 will be a bit of a jump but Joe has good luck with it.

I check my OAL and It's about 3.850. Now I ran some test last week and my groups are a lot better and smaller. If you look at your mag. Savage put the OAL measurement.

Re: SAVAGE 338LM 1650YARDS!!!

My mag says the same but with a gauge it measures a bit shorter 3.83. Where did you find your data on the H1000? I am curious how what Hodgdon shows on their site varies for the 300 grn OTM? Just loaded the first round to your OAL of 3.702 at 88 grns. Plan on working up in .5 grn steps from there. Thanks for all your work and the cool videos.

Re: SAVAGE 338LM 1650YARDS!!!

How bad is the kick using full load 300gr bullets? I'm thinking of getting one. Can you you shoot it all day? 20 rnds? 40 rnds? I'm used to shooting a 7RM.

Re: SAVAGE 338LM 1650YARDS!!!

depends on muzzle brake, weight of rifle, etc... and the real issue is amount of powder... if the load is hot, then it's gonna kick pretty good.

Re: SAVAGE 338LM 1650YARDS!!!

My GAP 338 with an FTE kicks pretty good with 300g bullet moving 2850-2875.

Re: SAVAGE 338LM 1650YARDS!!!

I was just talkin the savage Ba I can shoot it all day long even with hot loads. All i shoot is 300grain SMK

Re: SAVAGE 338LM 1650YARDS!!!

The weight of the 110BA I think is the factor, it weighs a ton, not something you are going to hump for any distance that's for sure.

Re: SAVAGE 338LM 1650,1820 AND 2050 YARDS!!!

Joe when you increased your powder to 92.0 grains for 1600 yards did you also lengthen your OAL to 3.83? Your 3.702 at 90 grains of H1000 is a sweet load in my 110BA. Of course this is the 300 grn OTM. Keep up the good work.

The most recent video, I change my OAL to 3.830. I have only shot 40 rounds with the longer OAL. The reason I change my OAL, because on the savage 110ba mag it had the measurement of 3.850. So far it seems like it getting better groups. I need to do some more work on it. The 3.702 works great was well and it fits in the mag. more videos on the way. Thanks for watching the videos.
