Savage floating bolt head

Good afternoon y'all

With a Savage Model 10 floating bolt head, and .005 'compression' possible with the bolt closed, how are you setting your OAL? I've read the 'getting started in long range handloading' write-ups, excellent info by the way. I'm preparing to do a ladder test with .010 bullet jam; but with the floating bolt would that net a jam of .005?

The bolt head seats against the lug surfaces, so that little bit of compression in the pin doesn't even come into play. Don't worry about it; put it out of your mind and carry on.

Cool, thanks. Relatively new rifle to me, 10 FCP/McM A5; after bedding its already producing sub-MOA groups with very little load development; I believe it has a lot of potential. Either that or by blind luck I pulled a magic load combination out of my hat
