Re: Savage MKII FVSR Hookup needed !!!

Hope you're planning on dropping the barrel and action into another stock.
The factory plastic stock doesn't do much for accuracy.(got one myself)
It's not an accustock so it'll sling flyers to the point of irritation.
That's the reason the price is so low, cheap injection molded tupperware stock.

Can someone else confirm this? I thought the stock on these were ok. I was gonna get one of these instead of a TRR-SR, but if this stock is garbage, I might as well just get the TRR-SR

Re: Savage MKII FVSR Hookup needed !!!

the stock is ok for a hunting / walk about plinker rifle, but for any serious shooting to be done with it, just about anything is better.

a ton of flex, the stock comb drop is just way too extensive for any serious scoped shooting for eye alignment / cheekweld without some sort of cheekpiece / pad put on it, the angle of the grip is cheesy too for a serious rifle.

don't get me wrong for a hunter / plinker it's fine, but for anything else the stock is just not up to snuff.

although the tacticool stock is wood, it's at least laminated w/ better cheekweld, grip, stiffness, etc.

Re: Savage MKII FVSR Hookup needed !!!

Well money was burning a hole in my pocket ...went online and found one in stock for $279 shipped so I bought it ...will post pics once I get her dressed out and supressor fitted...Going to use my .223 Titanium Suppresor for now until I fund a dedicated .22 silencer or get a .223 that can be taken apart or cleaning :)

What other stocks are availible now that you mentioned it ??

I will mostly be used for stray animals that come onto our property ..(neighbors adopt every stray within 100miles and take them in but do not feed the damn things so they come over and try to jack our dogs food )
.223 or .308 subs are still just a little too Loud !! and this is a covert operation ..LOL

Re: Savage MKII FVSR Hookup needed !!!

You can put any of the boyds on it - they are the oem for savage. You'll need new bottom metal, DIP has good thick stuff and sends screws the proper length.

Re: Savage MKII FVSR Hookup needed !!!

The stocker stock is alright for squirrel hunting and plinking. It is light weight and easy to carry. It is not super squishy, but a bipod can make it flex and if you put tension on it using a sling it will flex too. I mean, depends what you will do. I put a boyds on mine and I really like it. Dropped right in with some very light fitting.

FWIW I kept the original stock to carry around for squirrels and stuff lol.

Re: Savage MKII FVSR Hookup needed !!!

I bought that gun last week. The stock is not great, but it works for now. Accuracy is very good, even through my silencerco sparrow.
Very quiet with cci 710fps and remington subsonic. How do I post pics?

Re: Savage MKII FVSR Hookup needed !!!

Thanks jaja! That is a pic of 5 shots at 29yards the farthest i can shoot in my back yard. the first four are in the lower hole. I had to reload for the 5th, so I blew a perfect 5 in one hole. That is the best group so far. I will post more pics as soon as I figure out how to.

Re: Savage MKII FVSR Hookup needed !!!

Ok , so its not like the stocks that come on the model 10, since its not free floated correct? People say my savage fcp-k stock is garbage (the stock looks like this one but is aluminum bedded and free floated), but I totally disagree.

Re: Savage MKII FVSR Hookup needed !!!

The Savage FCP-K has the aluminum cored accustock.
Big difference in how the rifle reacts to recoil.
The tupperware stocks are ok out to about 75 feet.
but I won't even attempt a shot on a squirrel beyond that.
Don't want to cause/lose a wounded animal because of the stocks inadequacies.
