scopes for 22lr

Damn, where did you get that for $280? I see what I believe is the same scope for almost 2x that price: Vortex 6.5-20x44 Viper 30mm Rifle Scope

They were an exclusive for Camerland NY from 2011 through early 2013 until they sold out of the last shipment sometime this Spring. I was fortunate enough to pick up six of that model over the time period they were available. Excellent scopes at a phenominal price.

For the 2014 Conover TSC season my Win 52 will be sporting a Viper PST 6-24x-50 SFP. It is a thinner reticule than the V-plex wide reticule of my current 6.5-20x44 and has better tracking and turrets. It's not a Leupold Mk IV 16x, but it shold work just fine. ;)

damm, tom what have you been shooting, i have been beside you on the TSC line many times, still dont know what the 52 was wearing,
also you going change scopes after the way the 52 has been running this year

damm tom got any left, i have shot beside you many times on the same relay, at TSC an still dont know the 52 was wearing,
so after the way the 52 ran this year you going to change scopes. humm, haa, he he,
2014 may be getting tuffer an not here yet
looking for new scope for 22mag, see you next month, CE

Yep, going to upgrade the scope for 2014. The Viper 6.5-20x44 is a GREAT scope and the only Achilles heel would be the turrets when you are constantly dialing between 0MOA out to 24MOA or the occasional 42MOA for 300yds. My rifle and turrets get a LOT of mileage, not just at TSC matches. ;) The PST has outstanding turrets and tracking and a much nicer reticule more in line with what I shoot in my centerfires. The SFP is not an uber expensive scope either coming in the mid $600's if you shop around.

I have never had any issues with my Viper turrets. I shoot targets at 50, 75, 100, 125, 150 and 200 yds in our .22 Sniper Match. Going from a 50 yd zero requires 55" of elevation at 200.

My scope has seen a LOT of dialing up/down L/R over the past 2 years, and mine have gotten a little loose/mushy/sloppy. I need some "reason" to buy new glass darn it!! I just REALLY like the PST turrets and want one on my rimfire rig. :D

Well I am about drunk so I will try to be civil. You know what I have on my 22. I can certainly take credit for the 16X MK4 craze at TSC. It was done as a joke when I got the CZ452V, if you look back through the "sticks" thread you can find it. Turns out it is about perfect for what I am using it for right now. I have owned and USED Leupold scopes for 31 years. I will quantify that by saying I still have my first, and never a minutes problem, it has not been simply used, it has been abused. I have used lots of others, but Leupold is all that have stood up to the test of time. I am not rich by a long shot. I consider some grade of MK4, MINIMAL for serious year to year shooting. I shoot Leupold because it is ALL I can afford.

I've only got 2 scopes, but have never had more than 2 22s that needed scoping at any one time :)

First and constant resident on my Savage BTV, is a Simmons WTC 6.5-20x50 w/ AO. Got it on sale for $80 delivered when normal "great price" retail was $99 and msrp was $200ish.

Was so happy with it I bought a second Simmons - a Pro-something 4-12x50 w/ AO.

Both have nice clear glass for me, neither shift POI around. The WTC at 20x makes seeing asprin, tylenol, sudafed, and match stick heads at 50 yards easy. Cutting cards is hard because the crosshair is thicker than the card at distance.

Mueller APT on my Savage MII-FV. 4.5-14x40mm, 30mm body, 75 MOA internal adjustment, mil reticle, AO, exposed target turrets. Decent light gathering and clarity. $145 delivered from Optics Planet ebay (?) when I bought them. I just wish it was mil/mil.

Tracks reliably thus far (had mine for a couple years now) and clear enough to make me happy. I personally use the 14x high end magnification a lot for hunting purposes, but it isn't necessary.

I'm not a match shooter, so I really like a low power scope. Most of the time, it's fixed power, but lately I've had a little love affair with 1.5-6X scopes, such as the Swaro or S&B. Often, they're dangerous game hunting scopes, and the reticles are wide, but they're fun for whacking crows or tree rats.

On my .22 LR Volquartsen and my old Kimber 82 bolt gun, both wear Leupold 3.5-10X AO models. For the ranges we shoot gophers...the magnification range is about perfect.

Once the distances go over 60-70 yds I bring out the CZ 455 in .17 HMR, that wears another Leupold, but an old 6-18x50mm with AO.

I have one of the Midway BSA 4-14x Tactical scopes on a CZ445 VPT. Works fine.

Best scope out there for the price! Have 3 of them and zero problems, sure am glad I stumbled upon these. I like the 10Y parallax and reticle. Glass is nothing great but it's only a $250 scope so...

SWFA 3-15, pretty nice scope, by far the best feature of the scope is the 6M parallax, If fin ya had the inkling you could shoot .22 CB's in the garage but that's what pellet guns are for. Eyebox is a little tight on 15x and I'm not a huge fan of their reticle.

I'm all exited man !!!... because tomorrow I'll be mounting a March 3-24 on the most awesome 22 rimfire repeater ever devised by the mind of man. Geez, after all these years I'm finally done upgrading 22's and scopes, "satisfied at last", feels great!

SWFA SS 20x42 on my CZ 452 Varmint. Great "starter" gun. Been real reliable.

Picked up a Leupold VX3 LR at a gun show. I used it for awhile which was better than the Vortex PST 4-16 FFP that I purchased for my 40x. I ended up sending the VX3 back to Leupold for a 1/8 min Target Dot reticle and Mk4 turrets. I wish I would have gotten the Vortex 6-24 instead of the 4-16. I like the ability to roll on more magnification for the smaller targets.

Thinkin about selling my MK4 and getting a Vortex. Anyone had one ten years and used it hard?

SOLD!!! I will take it. you want me to buy the vortex, for you,
kinda like a moped, he he he,
you coming to range today to set up TGAC,
i know you are a vampire but iam not, got in late last night from work,an didnt call ya back,
call me today if you get time.
Damm a blood sucking chikin, i made a funny an didnt notice

The beauty of Vortex is the lifetime, transferable, no questions asked warranty.

So use it hard, if it fails, send it to Vortex. A week later you get back a repaired or a new scope.
