So I received an atlas as an early holiday present from the GF! I'm juiced to get it put on as soon as I can so I need to get a rail. Initially I saw that the best way was to use the seekins SRS... After going through most the checkout its gonna be $55 after shipping at all. Is it really worth that? What sets it apart, as a bipod rail, compared to ones that can be had for under $20. Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking to cheap out, but seems like a standard rail will do just fine for this application.

Yes I know they are a forum sponsor and put out GREAT products. What I'm getting at is you don't need diamond edges scissors if all your cutting is paper. Anyone have any suggestions for a less pricier alternative? Or is the SRS really that much better...

This is for a savage FCP-K stock BTW(2.5" spacing).

Out of all the replies.....this is the only one that actually gives a difference in the Seekins rail.

He didn't ask for your thoughts on the company. He asked what the difference was in the SRS rail and other rails that are less expensive and was it really worth the price difference.

If you didn't understand that everyone was saying its better quality than the others I am sorry.
The reasons why it was worth more were pointed out. If you want china junk then buy the $20 if you want something of quality that will last the lifetime of the gun buy seekins. You get what you pay for was mentioned in a previous post, true.

IIRC the Badger rails are cheaper. They are taller and have no sling mount. The SRS rides snug under the forearm very nice.

    Thank you.

Do you realize that atlas also makes several sizes of rails that mount similarly to the SRS? These have an integral flush cup, if that's more useful to you than a stud due to sling choice, etc.

They also make a rail that fits into the freeland/anschutz rails found on many things like anschutz .22's, the rem 40x, and even the forend of the AICS chassis.

I personally have run both the atlas and also a cheap piece of aluminum picatinny rail (get them from midwest industries, etc.) that has one slotted hole to accommodate different stud spacings. Both work fine- i'll continue paying under $10 for the universal picatinny sections, since it only has one job to do and the cheapo does it well. Plus, if you buy from the right place they are made in USA so no issues there.

Seekins & Atlas stuff is worth the $$ if you want the sling attachment though. It's not really a value added feature for my particular setup (side flush cups), but YMMV.

Thank you, this actually answers my quetsion. I will probably end up getting the SRS since it has a sling mount and its lower profile.

Re: Seekins SRS really worth it?

Ok so I ordered the seekins rail a couple days ago. I emailed them today to find out when it will be shipped, and I guess its backordered and wont be shipped for 3-4 weeks. Kinda surprised this wasn't posted on their site, or I wasn't notified. In this day and age, unless its a custom work, everything gets shipped within a day or you get notified of backorder.

So anyways, I definitely do not want to wait more than a month to receive such an insignificant part. Does anyone else have any suggestions on a rail that fits the savage and has a sling hole.

I've found a couple things, something like THIS seems like it will work since its got variable spacing for the wholes.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

You must be looking for the Bell and Carlson one? I actually just started making a batch of them this afternoon.

We just got our website going and we are still learning and playing with the inventory management side of things. Sorry you got the wrong impression.

Re: Seekins SRS really worth it?

No worries! I really like your rails design so I called a couple places, and scott said he might have one in stock! He will get back to me.

Contact Scott, he may have some.</div></div>

Thanks for the suggestion, you were right on the money!

    EDIT:
Scott(liberty optics) found one in stock, so I jsut placed an order with him! Great to have such good service available, even after hours.

Re: Seekins SRS really worth it?

Got the rail and started installing it, but gonna have to go to ace hardware for some screws. The screws that came with it don't have the right threads for the savage, im guessing the B&C stock its designed for has different thread patterns. I'm excited to get it on there and try it out!

Re: Seekins SRS really worth it?

    Glad you got it

Savage B&C stocks seem to have a different thread than the other B&C stocks. From now on we are just going to ship with both thread pitch screws so people don't run into this anymore. You would think the industry would just standardize on something like this but..

Re: Seekins SRS really worth it?

Yea I'm not sure why things like that aren't standardized, but savage seems to like making things hard like that. It's not a big deal though, not too worried about having to go get some 20c screws!
