Release the Krakken!
Public registration is now open for the September 6 Guardian Long Range Competition!

It will be a sprint to fill the 42-man roster for this coveted competition. The April 26th event saw record-breaking registration that filled in less than a month! We are also in the process of updating our site with many new and returning sponsors that will make this event second-to-none. Don’t hesitate, or you will regret missing out on this long range competition.

Remember, 100% of your fee is a tax-deductible donation! That's because it's going towards helping orphans find Forever Families through Bethany Christian Services.

Always good to put the location in the title, and the dates also. This helps people know if your local match is also local to them.

Registered. Will it be a similar match to the April match as far as stage layout and round count? Any pistol stuff involved or just rifle?

peaceatwar you were fast! Maybe you should the person who drives Beiber back to Canada. :)

I got the email on my phone walked straight up the bartender and said "Its a matter of national security that I use your internet browser". Needless to say she promptly stepped aside.

Here are the details on the Hawk Hill Custom .338 Lapua we will be raffling off at the competition in Sept.
-$5699 MSRP
-Built on a Falkon Action
-28" Hawk Hill Custom barrel
-Hawk Hill Custom Equalizer Muzzle Brake
-Manners MCS-T4 Stock

Just got word the Guardian match raised over 10,000 dollars for Bethany, to help them fund adoptions for children without homes. Thanks to all who participated, scores will be posted very soon. Gary Larson has the excel sheet. Congratulations to Matthew Gervais and Matthew Fisher for topping the list of 45 shooters for the event, they each received a nice Trijicon optic. Cartridges of choice: 6.5 Creedmoor for each of these guys. More to come! :)

PS. I've got an ammo can of spent brass that got left behind (didn't see headstamp, too tired to look)... and I've got Ranger O's Gap Grind hat, which will be raffled off at the next event. :D

;)

Had a good time, good to see familiar faces. Congrats to the Matthews for topping the list. They shot great!

Can't wait until the next one

You should also thank Lowlight and Maxine Nix, both for pitching in donations regardless of their absence (Both sent money with me for Raffle tickets [None of us won anything])

Good to know, Tim. Thanks to Frank and Maxine, much appreciated.

Taking feedback from the shooters... some love stage 7 (the quick and the dead), and some hate it. We do need to modify that stage for the next Guardian. Here's what we're going to do:

After completion of the first six stages, the shooters will be given an option of entering the "Q&D" stage (the quick and the dead)... if they choose not to enter, they're essentially "standing pat" and will be given a bye worth 70 points. This way they'll be sure of getting 70 points, which will certainly keep them from moving out of the top 10 for the match.

For shooters who do decide to participate in the Q&D stage, it will go as it did in this match: Shooters in groups of 3, beginning at lowest 3 scores in the match at that point (and moving upward, 3 at a time) will hit the mat at the "go" command, and first shooter to hit his/her long range 18" target will receive 100 points. That shooter goes on standby (but does not leave the mat), while the other 2 shooters continue firing until one of them hits his/her target, and that shooter will receive 80 points. Then the 3rd shooter will be given one more shot, to be sent within 20 seconds, for a chance to salvage 60 points for a successful hit. If he/she misses, their score for that stage will be "0"... this format pits 3 shooters who are equally ranked at that particular point in the match against one another. And it is SUPER EXCITING to watch. :)

https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1555153101372689&fref=nf

Of further note, some firing positions and/or disciplines are easier for some shooters than others. Some folks have trouble shooting over the rocks, or through fence gates, etc., but they shine when it comes to fast engagement from prone. And for other folks, the opposite is the case. So it's difficult to tailor the stages to cater to particular strengths and weaknesses of each shooter (and we do all have them)--because our strengths and weaknesses differ.

We will continue to monitor feedback from the shooters who participate in these matches, and work to make things better in the future.

Dan
