OK a little help from the optical physicists on the site please. Have a SFP NXS 8-32X56 Mildot. The ranging power is stated to be 22X, so the distance between the dots is 1 mil at 22X. If I go to 1/2 that magnification, 11X, I am told the distance between dots is 2 mil. I am trying to figure out two other settings. What is the mil distance between mildots at 32 X and what is the magnification power that gives exactly 0.5 mils between mildots.

Have querried NF tech but the data they gave me does not seem to work out as if I plug 22X into the formula they suggest I get 0.3 mils between dots. That is incorrect, as it is 1 mil at 22X.

Thanks in advance from any of you math whizzes that can bail me out on this one.

Night Force tech support said to take the magnification you were wanting to calculate the mil dot distance and divide it into the ranging distance. For instance 22X divided by 32 X. However they say this number is actually in MOA and to get it to milradians you divide that MOA number into a conversion constant of 3.44. As I said I could not get that to work out by my calculations.

I dont know how a measurement in mils becomes moa at a different mag range. Just use the first part of what they said that mirrored mine, that will be close depending on how accurately your mag ring is marked.

Yeah that MOA stuff went over my head also and did not sound right. I think you are correct. I am also going to test the calibration with a "Barber Pole" that is marked every 3.6 inches and measure mil marks at 100 yards against that.
