SGT Audie Murphy Board

Re: SGT Audie Murphy Board

I know this is a dumb response... But study your ass off. Get your greens or blues in order. Study the story of Audie Murphy. Here's a link to a PDF study file that will help if you haven't read this. Link

I know its hard to study, pull duty everyday, and maintain a life. But study and have your buddies quiz you, that always helped me. I wish you the best of luck.

Re: SGT Audie Murphy Board

The Audie Murphy Board is a Soldier's board for excellent Soldiers. For far too many years it was the source of bragging for many a POG, but I hear these days it is actually real Soldiers attending who have spent many days and hours outside the wire doing what real Soldiers do.
Good Luck man! Take that SOB to the top!(just so no POG gets it again since the Army seems to be winding down again)

Re: SGT Audie Murphy Board

Is that anything like the SQT test we use to have to take to get premoted in the post Vietnam era???

Nope, just checked the link. No where close. Seems to me it would be an honor just to be nominated.

Re: SGT Audie Murphy Board

Study and study some more then go over your uniforms again and again. It never hurts to ask some current Audie Murphy board members for help with the board.Best of luck it is worth it as far as helping your career.

Re: SGT Audie Murphy Board

Make sure you know who the contacts are at all the community outreach programs on post. Any programs on post that can benefit your soldiers could come up, and knowing when to use them is important also.

Re: SGT Audie Murphy Board

What is the purpose of the Audie Murphy Board?

Is this a promotion board, or special recognition for an outstanding soldier?

And what is a "POG".

I've been out of uniform for a few years . . .

Re: SGT Audie Murphy Board

The Sergeant Audie Murphy Club is a means of recognizing those NCOs who have contributed significantly to the development of a professional NCO Corps and combat ready Army. Members exemplify leadership characterized by personal concern for the needs, training, development and welfare of soldiers and concern for families of soldiers.

The Sergeant Audie Murphy Club is an elite organization of NCOs whose demonstrated performance and inherent leadership qualities and abilities are characterized by those of Sergeant Audie Murphy.

Put another way: "The Sergeant Audie Murphy Club is a private U.S. Army organization for enlisted non-commissioned officers (NCO) only. Those NCO's whose leadership achievements and performance merit special recognition may possibly earn the reward of membership. Members must... "...exemplify leadership characterized by personal concern for the needs, training, development, and welfare of Soldiers and concern for families of Soldiers (FORSCOM Reg. 600-8, paragraph 1)."

I always thought it was Piece of Garbage, but they could be used interchangeably most of the time.

Some soldiers suck a pay check, others are really out there fighting for us and SWIMMING IN THE SUCK.

Re: SGT Audie Murphy Board

Give me a minute. It IS on topic.

As some might say... "you ain't gonna believe this sh*t".

Some of you know that I've been tracing family roots for several years. With the help of 4 other cousins. But when we started tracing my wife's family back, we found something that actually caught me off guard. Her father had for years claimed that he was a 6th or 7th cousin to Audie L. Murphy. The most decorated soldier in US history. I thought it was so much bull. But through Ancestory.Com we have established that his family roots put both families in the same county and state. But I haven't made the actual "connection" as of yet. But maybe he wasn't as full of it as I thought.

Sorry for the interruption. I just wanted to add this.
