Range Report Short barrel 6.5Creed?

I'm running a 18" 6.5CM with Hornady 147gr ELD-M and it's a hammer. Drops a little more due to slower muzzle velocity, but that has zero effect on making hits.
I’ve got about 300 rounds through my 18” now. I’m shooting factory Hornady 147 TAP and my buddies Labradar said Avg of 2510. I’m happy with it.

Wondering the same thing. Thinking about doing a short 6.5 creed

My 20 inch 6.5 creedmoor curtis vector is handy AF. I run a suppressor on mine. I find with a 9 inch can it gives the rifle a manageable length and weight especially when humping up and down the rockys or in the bush. I am still getting really good velocity out of my barrel because I am higher altitude and using rl16, cci 450, and 130's. All these give me a good little boost on top of using my suppressor I am averaging 2785 fps. Because the Vector uses a switch barrel design I can swap barrel on the spot if I feel the need for different calibers, lengths, or profiles for the appropriate situation. IMO 20 inches for a 6.5 barrel is great for all around use. Decent velocity and handiness.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I found it useful so I'll add my 2 bits. I was concerned that my velocities were too low, but after seeing these posts I think I'm right where I need to be given the short barrel.

I have a 6.5 CM in an AR-10 platform, 18" barrel, shooting with Omega can.

Loading Hornady brass, H4350, ELD-Match 140gr, CCI 200 primers.

My charge weights and velocities on a recent trip to the range were as follows:

40.0 2510
40.2 2496
40.4 2510
40.6 2554
40.8 2554
41.0 2554
41.2 2574
41.4 2564
41.6 2594
41.8 2599
42.0 2614
42.2 2609
42.4 2666
42.6 2650
42.8 2704

Found good nodes around 2554fps and 2600fps. Feeding from mag so can't seat to lands, however tweaking the seating depth led to a nice group at 2554fps. Going to try 2600fps and see if it yields equally good results.

Hope that's helpful to someone!
Is that the heaviest bullet you have had feed reliably?
That even looks promising for a 16” multipurpose gun.

Just bought a 18in 6.5cm criterion barrel for my ar10. Coming from a Tikka t3x 20in 6.5, I'm hopping it does okay with my 147s, nows not the time to reinvest in a lighter weight stockpile of 6.5. I should of listened to people and just used 142s....

6.5 creed 18” shooting factory 143 eld x 2585fps.
