GunsmithingShotgun 'smiths for Mossberg 590a1 mods and upgrades ?
Vang Comp is very good, but are there any other shotgun 'smiths who work on Mossberg 590a1 for mods and upgrades? Wilson Combat/Scatterguns only works on the Remmy 870. Aim Pro Tactical went to crap and then left the gunsmithing biz.
What is the end-game you are striving for with gunsmiths / add-on mods ? Except for the barrel porting and extending the forcing cone, I have modified all these myself.
A Mossberg 590A1 SBS / Wilson Combat SBS / Mossberg 20 ga. SBS. Cody @ Vang Comp related the 20 ga. was one of the nicest they have ever been part of modifying. A nice home defense project. Hard to beat the WC 25 meter target with Vang Comp porting etc.....all the buckshot are accounted for on the target.

I would say the porting diminishes the muzzle rise "some"; the red dots do make accurate follow-up shots faster. At 25 meters and in, the muzzle rise shooting Federal Flight Control buckshot is not as critical as slugs. The Vang Comp port strives for 32 MOA patterns, 8" @ 25 yards; lots of pellets inside and about the 8" POI.
The Rogers School uses the Winchester 1300 pump (same as FN Herstal Police shotgun) with buckshot for testing. No porting of 18" barrel and there really is not that much muzzle rise with proper gun control. The steel head plates are 8", the #7 target is at 25 yards.
really depends on what you need done to it, imo one of the reasons I went with a 590A1 personally is that the only thing I might ever eventually want to do to it is choke thread it, and there are plenty of reputable places that will do that for the asking.

I just picked up a new 590A1 with an 18.5" barrel and the Mossberg ghost ring sights on it. 6 shot mag tube, and it comes already cut for a choke with an improved cylinder choke installed. It also has an MLOK fore end on it. I think its the best equipped 590A1 out there, especially for under 600 bucks. It's gonna bounce around behind the seat of my 91 Toyota and I didn't wanna have my nicely equipped 590A1 SPX back there.
