Finally got my scope in that I have been waiting for for about a month and a half. Just in time too. Im going to try and go out and zero it tomorrow or sunday, should be ready to figure out the come ups next weekend...

Well folks, I'm back from a horrible week working out of town. I spent my days riding around in an atv inspecting powerlines and scouting for places to shoot LR on Stampede Pass. It was a tough job but somebody had to do it. Found several good places to shoot and even more that deserve more exploring---I didn't get many pics tho-- I will try and do better next week. Looks like I got back in time to get my shirts ordered and get ready for next weekends get together. Most of the sights will be excellent places to practice serious angle shots both up and down. All of them can be reached within easy traveling form each other and camping areas for anyone so inclined.

couple questions...
1) How much ammo do you guys burn through on these trips?
2) what .308 ammo should I buy? I dont have a ton of money, but I'm guessing the $13 a box federal stuff wont get me near as accurate as what you guys are shooting.

This run is closed...in order to hopefully get them before the shootout.
We can always do another run.....this is going to Sniper CJ so we should know pricing soon....I will let the thread know how much each person owes.

All up to you man... I'm typically upwards of 200 (unless my trigger breaks
) for a full day... I'll bring more since this is a two day deal... but there's going to be a lot of guys up there - thus plenty of distractions to keep round counts down
...
That being said, I've also spent 3 hour sessions with as few as 20-40 rounds... taking notes on each shot and all of that good stuff... from what I'm gathering, I think this should be your approach. Buy as much GOOD MATCH ammo as you can afford, and really take your time. Study each and every shot, take notes & diagram POI's (bring a notebook/log book of some sort). You'll get much more out of time spent this way, than mindlessly blasting away anyway.
You want the Match ammo, so as to remove as many variables as possible... if you don't know what I mean now, you will by the end of the day Saturday... it's one of those things, where you can chase your tail down the rabbit hole trying to deciefer all of the variables... you don't want your ammo adding to the chaos...................... but it still will!

what caliber match ammo? what grain bullet? How much are you looking for?
Post Falls, ID (on I-90) has had .308 match ammo very recently. Check there on your drive through.

Joe, yes me and the clan are camping out... Also, I grabbed a pair of 18" 3/4' pipes for ya'... also finished off a pair of New & Improved stands for the two plates I've been dragging around... they came out pretty nice... but ARE NOT .50 proof!

I have a spare Phoenix Tactical "5.5 Tac" conversion of the 6-9" notched/swiveled with the "blade feet" that you can use for the shoot. It's a harris on 'roids
If you like it, I might be able to bring myself to sell it since I have a spare on a gun I haven't been shooting much -- the conversion is kinda spendy (cost me $200 for the whole setup), but I really like it. But either way, you're welcome to use it.

If you like it, I might be able to bring myself to sell it since I have a spare on a gun I haven't been shooting much -- the conversion is kinda spendy (cost me $200 for the whole setup), but I really like it. But either way, you're welcome to use it.

I have a spare Phoenix Tactical "5.5 Tac" conversion of the 6-9" notched/swiveled with the "blade feet" that you can use for the shoot. It's a harris on 'roids

No problem, I'll bring it along. I'm not dying to sell it or anything right now -- but if somebody wants to buy it, I wouldn't have a problem letting it go for a bit cheaper than what I paid (used merchandise discount or whatever).

PM'd the guy about that ammo. right now i've got 40 rounds of santa barbra surplus then another 30 or so of cheap federal and remington so i'll be able to shoot, it would just be nice to get some stuff that will fly well

If you don't want to buy a press yet if you get the components and dies...I have no problem rolling your weed for you....sitting here thinking about $210 worth of 270WSM ammo that only costs me $70 area....just time but the reloading is the way to go digger...but if you can't afford to go in with both feet just let me know...lord knows I didn't go all in at once.

That's ok...they know how many guns I have.....the whole neighbor hood knows how many guns I have and they all know that if someone comes to take one or two.....there are at least 3-4 they don't know about.....I like to suprise people too!!!

hey dsm im heading out to buzz's today to get a final site in and then have the chore of getting ammo ready for this week end. sometime this week i swing by your work and pick up a piece of steel for the upper clear cut. you figure out what time you going out there on sat?

Im probably going to bring the shot gun too for a little clay shooting, that way the fun can continue once all the match ammo is used up. If anyone else wants to join in thats cool. we just need to pick up all the used hulls though. i might be bringing a few things to sell, so people should probably have some cash on hand for the "trading" thats going to take place.
