simple tactical vest

Re: simple tactical vest

How about starting with a bare MOLLE vest, and adding your own pouches, where you want them? Can't get much simpler than that.

Re: simple tactical vest

Do you plan on shooting from a prone position?? If so, you'll find a tac vest can be a hinderance. If you do plan to shoot prone, you may want to consider a tac vest that zips up the middle. That way, when you lay down prone, you can unzip it and lay it open to the sides of your body to allow you to lay flat.

Re: simple tactical vest

You may want to consider a belt system instead of a tac vest. Just for the fact of you can position the pouches to the rear of the belt. I would normally never suggest putting anything on your back (in regards to a belt) coming from an LE background but I think for shooting prone and wanting to be flat as possible, you'd have an easier go putting your load on the back or sides.

^^^ That. Exactly. Mine is a Blackhawk. Has 2 horizontal AR mag pouches, a first aid kit, cuff/Sharpie/flashlight pouch and a small pocket containing some dummy cord, door wedges and a couple of other small items.

It also works with my duty belt in place, attaching using keepers, so it doesn't interfere with my standard holster and belt gear.

Cheers,

10 years bro--

In all seriousness, look at modular systems so you can tweak things. Do yourself a favor though and leave cheap in the trunk. I doubt he may still in business or under a different name, but UAW gear in NC made me a nice vest with molle, bullet proof design. I need to rework it soon, going to leave all that NE NC dirt, sweat, sunscreen, bug spray and whatever else is on it though

I have been looking for a new tactical vest but don't want to spend an arm gun and a leg as I will probably pick up 3 or 4 of them. The one below looks good and has a lot of customer reviews with pretty positive opinions on the vest. What do you think if you own one...and if you have a great recommendation for a different product please throw it out there.

Kitting up the IRA again, are you?
