Sly & The Family Stone was my first ever concert when I was a kid.

The funk era was an awesome time in rock and roll history. The breadth and depth of so many of the musicians of the time defied type casting.
One of the things I so dislike about what passes for modern R&B, AKA Hip Hop, is how monolithic it seems to be: All one form or another of rap...
Whereas voice, rhythm, beat, melody, harmony, clever lyrics and actual musicianship was paramount, today so much is based on violence, crudity and vulgarity with occasional lapses into creativity and skillfulness.
Of course, I am getting older and don't bother with enough of the genre to learn the subtleties. It clearly is not for me. Nevertheless, those were good days Tucker and there is nothing to apologize for!
