I am currently looking to purchase a windmeter ti assist in LR shooting. I have been comparing the Speedtech WM-350 to the Kestrel 4500 and atleat on paper they seem similar. I have also read many positive threads here on the Kestrel, however the Speedtech is on sale for $195 while the Kestrel sells for $309. I am hoping someone has some feed back on Speedtech since I've already read so many on the Kestrel.

Re: Speedtech (WM-350) Windmeter

Cuff,

I have a Speedtech Skymaster SM-28 that I got a couple of years ago. If I had done my research, I would have gotten the Kestrel. Mine reads wind speed just fine, but the altimeter and barometer are pretty much useless. The altitude and barometric pressure is way off from local station pressure and local altitude every time I turn it on. Have tried recalibrating several times, but to no avail. I have not tried to contact the company, but it looks like WeatherHawk has bought out Speedtech. Save up for the Kestrel, it sounds like their customer service is GTG and tons of folks here on the hide swear by them. Hope that helps.
