Steiner T6xi

This sounds a lot like dealing with Burris CS, I sent in an XTR III twice that had so much slop in the elevation turret that you could go half way between clicks up and down with no resistance. I'd talked to CS about it, they'd tell me that's not normal, have me sent it in, only to have the techs send it back as "functioning normally and to all specifications". After the second time I literally sent them a video and CS again said it should not do that, and if they couldn't fix the lash, I could upgrade to an XTR Pro for $1000+tax/shipping, at a time when I had just bought the XTR III for under $1000 and a Pro for $1500, I just ended up throwing it on a beater.

With current prices on the T6's 5-30 pushing $1500, it's tempting to swap a couple lower optics out, but the idea of ever dealing with their CS again is hard to swallow, almost as bad as dealing with anything Beretta supports.
That sucks as the 3-18x56 looks interesting.

Hey all,
Looking at getting an optic put an a gasser and was looking at either the 2.5-15 or the 3-18 with the SCR reticle. There is a sale right now on these for Mil/LE that will be a cheaper than most competitors. Any reason to consider something else for the price point? I too am concerned about the locking turret issue (I believe that was it). If it can be worked out I would like to consider one. I was thinking about either the Mark 4HD 4.5x18 or the Mark 5HD 3x18.

Thanks!

If you don't mind the shitty locking turrets (I've sampled 2 only) and the weight of the TX6i, the TX6i is optically the winner here. I've played with both side by side until it got dark to 300 yds and Steiner won the optical side every time. I think the Steiner had about 14" more FOV at 18x @100yds too.

However I would chose the Leupold if weight is extremely critical. I also hate Leupold's windage turret with a passion too.

Yeah I wouldn’t even put these two in the same ballpark optically, the T6xi is miles ahead in every way optically. Most samples have decent turrets. The locking mechanism is far from great but not a deal breaker and yes it’s a heavier scope. So if rig is on the edge of weight with what you are doing with it. It maybe too heavy.

Who has the sale on them?

Expertvoice has a flash sale on them.
I haven't jumped on one yet, still going through the thread to get all the pros and cons. I'm leaning more towards the 2.5-15 with the SCR reticle. I assume* i don't really need to use the locking turret if it's an issue and run the turret as normal, just dial up and down?
I appreciate the feedback.

Initially, I was eyeing the 2-12×.
I was really wanting a very low bottom magnification.

I went hog hunting the other evening and realized the 4.5-15× I had on my 6-BR was near perfect for the 53 yard shot.
With that said, I'm confident the 2.5x bottom mag will be just fine.

Its been nearly a year since i used my 2-15 stiner (its on a deer hunting rifle) but the low end the retic is super small for any use other than a snap shot (which is what it is intedned for) but the FOV is great for scanning.

I will also say the glass and FOV are much better than my friends Luppy 3-18. But the Luppy has amazing turrets. But the Steiner has illumination.

TLDR Im glad i went with the stiener. kinda wish i got the 3-18 but for hunting the 2-15 is overkill so no complaints. and with a locking turret, win win.

I’ve owned the Leupold 3-15, Steiner T6XI 3-18, and the Steiner H6XI 3-18 FFP. For hunting, anything below 5-6X the reticle was too fine and the illumination wasn’t bright enough for daylight shots.

Steiner just came out this year with a RFP (2nd focal plane) H6XI in both 2-12 & 3-18. For hunting, the 2nd focal plane makes sense, lighter than the T6XI, not locking elevation turret but it was stiff enough I wasn’t concerned. I hunt thick wooded areas so having a wide FOV and a reticle I can actually see quickly is key.

I actually picked up-Zeiss V6 2.5-15 with nuclear bright illuminated dot and phenomenal glass they have on sale everywhere for $1,200. Just a crosshair on the Zeiss, so the RFP H6XI’s have me interested at $1,100.

Thanks. I knew I had something incorrect in that sentence, but couldn't figure it out.

The only pig that came to the feeder strolled in like he's owned the place forever. Tapped him between the eye and ear. Once we got over to look at him, we noticed the small, 80# body. Checked his cutters and they were smaller than the canines on the dog.
I bet he could have grown into a real bad mofo given time.
His time ran out.
