today i got a savage mkll 22 for 130 and plan on running only subsonic through it for suburban squirrel shooting. i have a nice .17 hmr but people usualy equate noise to danger. and since they dont make a subsonic .17 cal that isnt air powered i went with a .22. i was looking for any tips on shooting subs. ive shot all of 10 rounds to see how quiet it really was. so i know nothing about them

Re: sub-sonic small bore

Well, if you're likely to be shooting 25yd or less, the CB Long loads from Remington, CCI, and Winchester run about 710-725 fps and are prodigiously quiet.
Any match load will be subsonic, or under 1135fps or whatever the speed of sound is, and will be a lot quieter than high speed; but the CB loads (in a LR case) are amazing.
