Subsonic 7.62x39 that can cycle a standard AK.

Anyone have pointers?

I've loaded .308 subs with Trailboss before.

I tried Trailboss in 7.62x39 with 124gr FMJs. The velocity was fine but the action would not cycle completely.

I am thinking of trying a SLOOOW burning powder. I have some Vhitavouri N165 laying around. It's one of the slowest powders you can buy.

Am I headed down the wrong road with the slow burning powder?

Will loading a 200 or 220 gr bullet help?

The Russian military has a 193gr subsonic AK round that cycles properly, so it can be done.

FWIW Engel Ballistic Research loads 220gr for their 7.62x39 subsonics

I don't know if the data would cycle an AK, but here is some 185 grainers steves pages... and... 205 gr.... 200 Lapua .... 240gr ..... Subsonic info ... more info that might help......
