i picked up a used mint condition swfa 3-9x42 scope for a decent price to try out. one thing i noticed over my swfa 1-6x25 is the turrets take two turns to equal the 1-6 model and they are much harder to turn...and they power adjuster is much easier to turn...almost like the are two totally different scopes.
anyway, i kind of liked it and think it would be the perfect scope for my hunting rifle. i think the glass is very good for not being the hd model.
so im trying to set it up, and i cant get the reticle to focus at low power. i kept unscrewing the ocular and got it wayyyy out there and still blurry.
it seems to do best for me about screwed all the way in and seems to focus much better at 9x than 3x...
i can stare at it at 3x and get it to focus, but then the background is blurry. maybe im just getting old eyes almost ready to hit the big four ohhhhh.
one other question about them...if you unscrew the ocular out too far for adjustment, will the ocular come off or is there a built in stop? i was wondering because i would hate to keep playing with the adjustment and unscrew it too far and have it come off and lose the nitrogen...if thats possible.
thanks
