So, here's a turn up for the books. I didn't know Mike had a YouTube vid up but saw a comment of his on an old Tango-51 vid.

I've played this a couple times with different sound volumes to see if my first level of shock at how quiet this thing is was real - it apparently is! The action makes more noise! I've tried to get a hold of Mike to ask if he's shooting full load 12gauge or how old the vid is.

Enjoy (and I want one!!)

Re: TacOps Gen2 Suppressed Shotgun...!!

Looks like it's probably more effective than most shotgun suppressors.

Probably no need to be any more effective- because the door breaching rounds are probably really loud when they hit the door frame anyway.

The Tac Ops Clandestine 12 (C12) shotgun is extremely quiet, due to Tac Ops suppressor design which received a Full Patent. Full Patent suppressor designs are very rare. From what I've seen the C12's suppressor is the most effective around.

As effective as the Gen 2 Clandestine 12, the Gen 3 Clandestine 12 is a marked improvement over the Gen 2 model - I've seen and heard them in-person. The Gen 3 is also a titanium hybrid and is considerably lighter than the stainless Gen 2. The C12 Gen 3's lighter weight improves handling and makes the C12 more comfortable to carry over the Gen 1 and Gen 2.

Also, the Clandestine 12 isn't just about quiet. A key benefit of the C12's suppression is elimination of muzzle flash. The absence of muzzle flash dramatically reduces potential flash ignition of vapors during raids at meth labs.

Such a rare thing to see a suppressor at ASR, let alone attached to a shotgun

Now they just need to get the "can" out of the line of sight, drop it below the barrel like the Osprey design and they might have something useful.

Nope, full fat 12ga.

Mike sells them to agencies.

Re: TacOps Gen2 Suppressed Shotgun...!!

I'll tell you what's funny, suppressors isn't even his main line of business.

When I get mine for my AR-15 I'll see if I can get hold of a decibel reader. If it performs anything like his .30 cal cans or this Gen2 shotgun then I'm going to be one happy camper.

Re: TacOps Gen2 Suppressed Shotgun...!!

Yes it does! got my AR cleared in about 10mins, no bullet button, no mag limit, cost me about $25 and best of all.... no damn 10 day 'cooling off' period. I'm digging PA.

I think I got in on the same run as you. If you're up in PA, give me a shout.

BTW - I've stolen your TacOps image in the sig line...

Welcome to America. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Re: TacOps Gen2 Suppressed Shotgun...!!

There is a lot to the history of shotgun cans and this should be a big step forward. From the video it looks like the quality and performance is going to set a new standard. I especially like the final stage as that is where the difference can be made and where other makes have had issues. I look forward to hearing this unit.

cbass16, you can't for a whole host of reasons, one of them, mentioned, is flash suppression. Since 1909, the off axis has had real issues that huge volume alone only partially overcomes.

Useful? Considering that the original (Gen 1) Clandestine 12 shotgun was introduced and has been in service with the LASD SEB as and other Teams for more than 11 years, AND the fact that all Tac Ops suppressors are extremely efficient/quiet I'd say that the C12 is very useful. The LASD SEB and the other Teams using them think so. But what do they know?

BTW, C12 suppressors have an aiming dot on the rear end cap. In combination with the receiver-mounted ghost ring the sighting system works very well.

I wouldn't get bent out of shape over this, he's comparing pistol suppressors to shotguns. If he were to talk about things that are deployed in similar fashion then he might have something useful to say.

Re: TacOps Gen2 Suppressed Shotgun...!!

Nice -- I've been looking for an integrally suppressed 12-gauge. Although I'm surprised: Is this the only one on the U.S. market? Wasn't easy to find even mention of it. Once I got into subsonic shooting it didn't take long to realize that to maximize energy I'd want to go 12-gauge!
