Does anyone else notice in tbacs videos that the dominus exhibits an audible "ring" at the sound report? I've noticed it on the repr and 300 win mag vids so far, especially the comparison video of the dominus k, dominus, and 338 ultra.

Edit- I am a tbac customer having a 338, takedown, and ultra7. They are awesome and I want to buy a dominus but the ring has me questioning it.

That’s the first video I have heard that in myself. Was thinking it was going to be some “feedback” off something proximal but definitely don’t hear it in the other 2 cans...

Not an apples to apples comparison as I haven’t had mine on a 300 WM, but I don’t hear that “ring” on anything I have had mine on.

Have heard rings before after the shot. That rifle had a flash suppressor can mount on it. Then they switched to a muzzle break can mount and it went away. I believe it was a Surefire can, but wondered if was more related to the type of mount.

I think it's an artifact in the recording (just an iphone mic for the video), or something else in the area ringing. I played the Dominus shot vs the Dominus-K shots back to back and the K recording sounded quieter, which is impossible vs. the PULSE data. I've shot all the Dominus models extensively and have never heard a ring.

Resurrecting a 2 year old post. But stumbled upon this when I did a search for Dominus ringing. Picked mine up today after approval and went straight to the range. The very first thing I noticed was a ring after every shot. The can sounds great, but the ringing itself started to give me a headache

I now have 2 dominus sr’s and I’ve never noticed the ring I hear in the videos.
I figured out some people just can’t hear it. My coworker showed up to the range and he couldn’t hear it. Also, not sure if it makes any difference but mines the Dominus CB

I've heard it in several videos and it's actually kept me from picking one up. I love my TBACs but cans that ring is a no go for me.

Here's one I heard it in (11:55). It's the most apparent on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th shot but also the 1st shot. I heard it in several TBAC videos too. I need to hear one in person.

Listen at 16:23, I hear the same ringing after that one (Full Nelson). That's why I think it's a recording artifact or something else in the vicinity vibrating. I've never heard a Dominus ring in person. We can run some recordings and see if there's anything actually coming from the can

Not saying you're wrong but it's odd that it's multiple shots in several videos with the Dominus and not just one or two shots here and there. They talked about hearing the ring with the Full Nelson(14:50ish) so definitely not a recording artifact there.

I have an odd theory but there may be some merit to it.

Back in the day I grew up where flip phones were transitioning to smart phones and it was “cool” to have the new ring tones. We’d share them with each other and I remember there being one sound that was high pitch that was claimed people over the age of 40? 50? Can’t remember, but they couldn’t hear it. I remember doing it around my parents and they wouldn’t hear it. I also remember kids doing it in class and the teachers would never hear it but all the kids would be looking for who was playing it.

My only theory is maybe some people truly don’t hear it. I’m not even 30 yet so I can only guess maybe I’m still able to hear it due to having “young” undamaged ears? And it’s likely safe to assume a lot of middle age shooters have hurt their hearing enough already that maybe they just don’t hear it.

This doesn’t really prove anything, I love the can and it sounds great. But I’m one that can hear the ringing very clearly. Borderline ear piercing

I had a 26" barrel 308 that i could hear a faint ring everyime i shot it once i had my 178amax load dialed in.
I chalked it up to just harmonics as i didnt notice it with my 155 or 190 grain loads.
It was unsuppresed and for a bit thought it was just in my head, checked every fasteners torgue several times before just ignoring it.

For the sake of science, being that I can hear it clearly I’ll run it on multiple hosts as a test. So far I can hear it on a 16” Q Mini Fix in 223. I also got my wife on board to come with next time as well to see if her ears can pick up on it as well. But I’ll try it on my 308. Like I said, I don’t really know what it proves, just that it exists I guess? If my theory that hearing ability plays a role in whether someone can hear it or not, in a few years there won’t be any ringing haha
