Up for sale here is 1 (one) giant favor from your favorite German redeemable at a later date. No cash value.

What I need in exchange for this, is for someone thats all into programming bots that find/buy shit the second it comes in stock, to buy me a RTX3080 video card (10 or 12 GB, probably 10 as the extra 2GB seems not worth it) that I refuse to pay 4x MSRP for to some faggot in China or some lame ass ebay reseller.

Basically you find/snipe the card, I pay for it and owe you a big favor that you can redeem at a later date for valuable merchandise or something (or DirtyD's virginity).

Since we're on this, whats the best processor to run with these new cards since I need to upgrade both.

Just buy this, it's in stock.

And return it because it was missing the video card.

Get the new intel 12th gen processor. 12900k. As for the video card, good luck. The new 40 series will be out soon. You can sign up with EVGA for a 3080 and they will notify you when one is available. You have 24 hours to respond and they move. On.

If you are near a Microcenter, they have a much simpler lottery that you showed up and buy one at MSRP., that’s how we bought a 3080 2 weeks ago.

    Suck on it you poor

how much is it supposed to cost. 1800?

And while yall are at it, find me some H4350. I'll add my favor for yall as well

    Hodgdon or IMR?

Bought locally yesterday…along with some others to try on some 300WSM loads. Felt like I hit the lotto!

And they had several more of each, plus a whole lot more. No brass or primers though. Trainer Hale Supply down Southeast of San Antonio. Don’t know if they ship but may be worth a call:

Install the Octoshop extension on your browser. You can watch cards on Bestbuy's website, when they restock, which used to be every two weeks but now its pretty random, your alert will go off. It isn't an email alert, unless its changed, it is a sound that plays and you have to click the link quick to get there and hope you can snag one. Got a 3070 for our son this way back in May/June. If you want, you can buy new 6000 series AMD cards off Newegg, they're a little pricey but that's just the market these days. Their cards are more than capable for gaming. NVIDIA just gets the attention because of the fanboys who need rAy TrAcInG and dLsS and they are better for doing ML and AI stuff. AMD released their version of DLSS a couple months ago called FidelityFX. It has been adopted by Xbox and Playstation so will get a ton of support.

The Ryzen 5xxx are still a better processor than the 12th gen. The 12th gen Intels require more power for very little gain over the Ryzens. Additionally, depending on what 12th gen you get, you'll need DDR5 RAM which just came out like 2 months ago so is still crazy expensive, which also means a new motherboard. As for the EVGA queue, there is no chance in getting a 3080 from that right now, it is way too late to sign up.

As you can see, they're still fulfilling orders for people who signed up last September for 3080s. Zero chance if you sign up now lol. Best bet is to wait for the 40 series whenever that may be and hope to get in the EVGA queue from the beginning but good luck with that because the site is gonna be bombarded by everyone else trying to get a card and is going to be down quite a bit.

As an IT company owner that uses and sells these cards regularly...nvidia really fucked us on these cards. Not available through normal distribution since Sept 2020...

Sign up for Newegg Shuffle if you want one. They run it every single morning. You have a good chance of getting one that way at normal pricing.

I've got a few 3080's through the Shuffle...I'm running one right now in my office rig with a 11900K... you want the Intel 12900K cpu that was released recently if best of the best is your goal..

Oh yeah, and 1 lb cans of H4350, available at ~$25ish, but not at Academy.

need a new mothrboard for 12th gen anyway, the die is bigger and its also compatible with ddr4

Part of the issue you will have is most brands are only producing the highest end of the series to get maximum profit, so you'll be paying for the highest end version if you can find one as well as most of the time if you want to buy one, you have to buy some junk motherboards and power supplies at inflated prices as the brands use that leverage to get rid of stock they can't sell.

So for example we get usually 3 to 4 video cards a month, and we have to pay over MSRP for them and usually buy $200 to $300 worth of junk with them (that we have to sell at a loss if it even sells), so we'll mark up the cards to what the market will bear. Also keep in mind, for example eBay takes almost 10% cut so the prices have to be marked up by at least 10% and then you have tons of buyer fraud, so things have to be marked up to cover all the fraudulent buyers / returns.

Nvidia and all the stupid tech writers like to go blame the miners, but it's simply that not enough chips are being made due to the global shortage and everybody wanting just in time inventory and bare minimum stock and no stocking risk has only made it worse.

Correct. But why buy new generation stuff and use old ddr4 lol. Gotta go all in if you’re getting the newest parts.

Why? Because the 12900K is significantly faster (17%) that the $200+ more AMD 5950x and 20% faster than the price comparable 5900X in single threaded productivity applications, which is my main use, I'm not a gamer...

The benchmarks for both gaming and productivity apps show zero performance difference with a 12900K using DDR4 or DDR5...

Here's another multi threaded comparison fact...."It's almost surreal to see the 24-thread Core i9-12900K with DDR5 memory tie the 32-thread Ryzen 9 5950X in the overall multi-threaded ranking, but even more surprising to see it take a 3% lead with DDR4. That's pretty impressive in light of the 5950X's $800 price tag."

AMD had intel for the last few years...not anymore with Alder Lake. No way I'd buy a more expensive, older architecture if building a new rig today...

To give you an idea of how the current economics work on the cards.

At wholesale we had to pay $2050 in the end to get the card landed.
I bought it for me, but unfortunately it won't fit into my computer case as it's too tall.
So I'll probably list it on eBay for around $3k which is around where they go for give or take a couple hundred.
eBay will take about $300 in fees since they also take a 10% fee from the seller on the sales tax that they collect for the state even though it's never seen by the seller. Shipping to the customer will probably cost about $100 to send it fully insured with an adult signature required so it's a lot harder for the "buyer" to play fraud. So, in the end that nets around $500 profit by the time all is done, so about 25% return on your money.
Now I'll probably first offer it to some of the miners that buy these cards for around $2600 to $2700 net as it's way less risky to sell to them and we don't have to pay for fees or deal with returns etc.

If you want this one, you can have it at cost + shipping + any payment fees.
BUT first check the EVGA website for all the dimensions as it's a very large card and takes a big case to handle it.
(Offer only good for TheGerman, not valid for anyone else).

It's crazy how big and thick these things have gotten the past few years..

I've been waiting for EK to get the Strix Waterblock back in stock to throw on my 3080. Crazy how much the footprint reduces when you rip off the oem coolers, housing, backplate and put a waterblock on .. but properly spec a case for all the hardware is definitely required these days. I love my LianLi PC 011 case. Dual 360 rads, pump/res, watercooled 11900K and was 2080 Super...now a 3080... runs cool and quiet.

Haven't had the desire or time to rip it all down and to install the 12900K and MB I have sitting here..

This is my shop daily driver. Running 3 32" Samsung 4K monitors.

The solid white hose in there I had to throw in temporary when I removed the watercooled 2080 Super that had a solid acetel pipe when and installed the 3080....been waiting for that EK waterblock for this Strix which just came back in stock. So sometime in the next month I'll tear it all down, put the new MB and 12900K in, install the waterblock on the 3080 and hard pipe it back in

Yep and it's also not just the size of them but how much power they want and power connectors.
That card there is basically 3 slots wide and you need 6" of height in the case and 12" of length.

Then if you have that, they need 3x 8 pin power connectors to support the 350W power draw.

I'd like to get into water cooling, but I'm stuck with Dell OEM cases only because I like to be cheap and the way we buy workstations, the basic bare bones system winds up being no cost.

Currently I run one of the big Tower 7920 which is huge and weighs like 50 pounds and even that was too small by about 1" for that card (had plenty of power outputs however).

I was thinking about going with an external water cooling radiator tower with a big tank reservoir one of these days and then it just runs hoses through the PCIE slot blanks to hook up to the GPU and CPUs, then I can re-use it through my various upgrades (since usually each new model has a modified or new case).

That's an impressively neat and tidy layout in that case.
    A real work of art.

Case porn and cabling porn are always fun to stare at and admire.

All my stuff is ugly and utilitarian and stuffed with wires everywhere.

Yep that will work for watercooling....they even sell Pci brackets with fittings on them....so you aren't running hoses through the openings...

I build a new office workhorse every year once intel releases their new cpus... I don't sell gaming rigs/etc....we are a commercial IT company. But I do go all out with lights, anal cable mgmt, watercooling, cases, etc. for pictures/examples to show a few clients of mine each year. They buy these type of rigs for conference rooms, mobile convention center setups where people see them and at the same time need the horsepower for the application they are using it for... one company drives 6-14 Ultra short throw projectors on walls, each roughly a 10' image... another uses my rig like this in their showroom to drive a 10' touch glass screen..

But mostly we build these rigs in non window cases, watercooled for engineering dept that use every bit of the horsepower running surfcam, solid works and autocad.. those generally use QUADRO cards though...unless they are going cheap for some new apprentice which is rare

Thanks. Many years of practice and me knowing it looks like that, even if the client doesn't. Haha. But honestly, I mostly go that crazy on cable and tube routing/mgmt for optimum airflow.. the amount of heat these cpu and gpu dump into a rig these days, I like lots of unobstructed airflow with no noise..

Have you found a good water cooling block / backplate for the Quadro A6000 or A5000 series cards (specifically PNY ones)?
I was going to run an A6000 or A5000 in my tower, but they put a ton of heat out and get quite hot externally, even the A4000 gets crazy hot to where you don't want to touch it after it has been running for a bit.

Love it... has so many different config options... lots of built in compatibility for various res and pump setups... so many rad config options and cable management is s breeze.. I've been using and selling LianLi for 15yr+. One of the best in the business...not cheap compared to your plastic cases you see advertised all over.. lianLi are built with real craftsmanship.

    No not off hand..

Built a PC with The Daughter this fall. Signed up with EVGA the first week of October for a 3080. Got lucky in November and found a 3060T at Microcenter in Mpls.
crazy how short supply these things are!
