Terminus Actions

Anyone running multiple Zeus actions? What was your deciding factor in having more than 1? I have a Zeus Qc and am in the market for a second action but nothing looks quite as appealing as a second Zeus.

I have a Zeus SA QC (.470 bolt face for Dasher/Creedmoor/.308/GT) and a Zeus 338LM LA non-QC (.585 bolt face). Deciding factor to get a second Zeus was its slick 60° bolt throw on a three lug with its smooth nitrided finish. Impact 737R was obtained before Terminus came out. Love that action too, nothing bad to say about it, and would have no issues buying another. The QC thing is something, like reticles, that is a personal choice. I personally love the Zeus QC functionality. Terminus' barrel changing modality has not shifted any points of impact on rebarreling pre-fits on shots out to 1100 yards in my own experience. I will most likely get another Zeus LA with a .540 bolt face for 7rsaum as the appropriate Impact 787R tends to be out of stock wherever I happen to look.

Ok, I gotta ask. Has anyone gotten a 338 lapua in a QC barrel? Already talked to Joel he recommended full thread torque on. I would agree. But i am curious if anyone has done a qc 338 lapua. If so, what are your experiences with it?

Someone mentioned to me that my bolt bounces excessively when dry firing. Is that normal?

I’m running a TT diamond if that makes a difference.
Best to ask Joel Russo of Terminus. Mine does not when I am dry fire practicing using the D.F.A.T Kit (Dryfire, Focus, Adapter Training) using the same trigger indoors on a wall poster.

Any chance someone in the know could post a video of what it’s supposed to look like and a video of excessive bounce? I’ve got a trigger tech diamond and thought terminus were timed for these 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’ve literally never timed a trigger though so I don’t know anything.

@BenE @CaseFinder @Safety_3rd

Per Joel

The bounce is perfectly normal. It’s caused by the abrupt stop of the firing pin dry fire collar coming in contact with the dry collar stop inside the bolt. You won’t see it jump when the firing pin strikes a primer because the primer absorbs a significant amount of the energy.

Was it virgin brass? I had this issue with a different action when using virgin alpha brass and 450s. Once the brass was once fired I didn’t have issues.

My solution was to use 205m’s they’re a little softer.
It was once fired brass. I never had this issue up until recently. I’ve only shot cci450’s

Is it possible that you might have resized your brass too much, resulting in excessive headspace? I have never handled a Zeus before, but I believe they have a 21lb spring, which is not the lightest in the industry. I am not sure what the striker tip protrusion is, try to measure it and see if it is enough. Sometimes a piece of primer can get forced through the striker tip hole in the bolt, resulting in it stopping the striker prematurely. Hope this helps.

I’m special. I dissembled the entire fire control unit and it was dirty. I cleaned it. Should be better

The more I run my Zeus the more I think it’s beginning to be my favorite action I own. I wish they made a lighter weight Zeus or something with integral rails/recoil lug cause I would be tempted to only buy Terminus. Either way, the Zeus is a fantastic action.
Agreed. I just got a second one.

Anyone ever have light primer strikes with a Zeus? I have cleaned the fire control unit but I had 2 during a match yesterday. Using Cci450s and alpha brass.
I had an issue with light primer strikes with one of my terminus while hunting in -20 degrees but after cleaning it the firing pin and spring and running it pretty dry it has resolved. Probably doesn’t help you here but that’s as close as I’ve come to having an issue with them.

I cleaned mine real well today. I think that should solve it.

You ever figure this out? I’m at 3500 rounds on mine. Not sure when to change it.
Yup, ok here goes. I insert the firing pin into a block of wood or a hole in a wooden table. Depress the firing pin by pushing the bolt shroud down and remove the small screw on the under side of the bolt shroud. Entire unit comes apart. Keep depressing the bolt into the block of wood, once that screw comes out the spring and shroud come loose. Reverse steps to install new spring.

Was it a "new" batch of CCI450s to you?
There was a dud batch a couple of years ago and you'd get 1-2 per hundred CC450 not ignite (regardless of brand of action).
There was a lot of them here in Aus and many of the guys now will not use CC450(mainly over to Federals).

What are you all using for chassis or stocks?

I currently have mine in an aics 2.0. But cloning itch makes me want a mk13. So any suggestions on chassis or stocks would be greatly appreciated
My Terminus Zeus are in MPA chassis, ESR and BA Comp and I have just built up a new one in a Foundation Centurion.
Not really a MK13 type but the Zeus run well in these listed. Mainly using MDT BR mags
Oh, the Centurion is also the most beautiful looking rig ever (IMO)

Thank you, my zeus is in the aics and id like to free the aics up for a mk13 build. But the zeus will need a new stock or chassis.

I’ll look into the ones you mentioned.
