I'm aware of this Samsonite case. It accommodates a 16" barrel. My AE MkIII is taking up residence inside.

Ah yes now I remember the timeline. I was shown a Samsonite case and was told it was for a PM Covert, but I noticed the cutout for the barrel was long and it didn't match the PM Covert or AWS Covert photos I have. The longer cutout led me to believe it was a later design for the current 16" covert barrels, so I guess your Carlton must be the original suitcase brand for the early AWS Coverts with 12" barrel. According to my drawing, it is actually 12.4" end to end.

There is an AWS Covert barrel kit for sale on a UK shop online, but I don't think you can import suppressors into the UK?

Lucky Carlton is an English brand... I see plenty of the same Carlton cases on ebay! A project for another day.

A big thank you to @DKN83 for the tan skins. Also a big thank you (SIKE!) to USPS for losing the rear panels for almost a month. Ill have some range photos soon with this thing. 338 is just a bit pricey for me to take out all the time. Not to mention hardly anywhere in DFW allows you to shoot it. Anyways, for your viewing pleasure.

That color…

That barrel length…

That stock…

That caliber…

That still is my dream rifle.

Got the AWs together at the local match today. Thanks to @SingleShot85 and @Cuban_Croc for inviting me out. Its been a while since I did one of these matches, so I had to shake some rust off.

This is a prone match with stages from 500 to 1200, with targets ranging from a full-IPSC (1-point), half-IPSC (2-points), 1 MOA (4-points), .25 MOA (7-points). 4 shots per stage. My general strategy, especially with .308, is to try and go half-IPSC all the way through and hopefully catch up to guys shooting the newer PRS-style cartridges towards the end. Interestingly, the two AWs pictured here (left and right) have 6GT barrels. The one on the left is a very old 1995 model (wildly cool) and the other is a 2001 . Due to running factory GMM 175 loads today, I struggled to get the velocity needed for consistency out past 1000, but still had a great time and finished in mid-ish pack. For you TX guys here, the range is North East Texas Tactical and they do these matches every month if you ever want to come out to the DFW area.
