Today I discovered that the delicious Kellog cereal "Raisin Bran Crunch" that has the added benefit of producing consistently pleasant bowel movements is now a "Product of Mexico"!

Kellog cereal, Battle Creek, MI the home of Tony the Tiger!!!

Sheesh.

Re: The world is ending!

Ouch. . . I'm from there, have family that work there. When I was a kid my grandfather supervized the boiler rooms there and used to bring us home all of the "tester" products. Kellogs made in mexico huh? . . Shame

They used to all be there in BC. Kellogs post general mills, purina, kraft. . .

LMAO!! That is funny stuff Kasey!

Re: The world is ending!

Battle Creek was the center of a cereal and health spa fad in the 1800's. Kellogg had a health spa and sanatorium there, lots of coffee enemas, steam baths, etc.
Other cereal manufacturers sprang up to join the fad. Kellogg single handedly started the entire breakfast fad.

When my sunny and runny eggs, rare bacon, heavily buttered hashbrowns, coffee and milk are made in Mexico or China, then, and only then, will the world have ended. Or if the food (inter)nazis now in control ban these, that would also constitute the end. (a little contradiction there) It'd be time to get out the REM cd.

The story of Kellogg is a strange one... He was a very eccentric person.

Where does your coffee come from?

The sad part is, how much labor, REALLY goes into producing f*cking cereal?

FYI folks, when buying ANY produce from a VERY large company based out of Arkansas, if any of you do, watch the country of origin VERY closely!

Re: The world is ending!

Personally I would be worried if I saw a Chinese label on my food-I do not think they as a food producer can be trusted not to slip in some chemically tainted or lower quality additive so as to enhance their profits .Mexico ? dunno about them but havent heard bad stuff about their food other than it might give you several trips to the boys room.US food ?? good or bad -additive heavy or not -monsanto heavy grown with fangled GM science mmmm

Re: The world is ending!

427Cobra, to my knowledge, 2 stainless steel washers are imported, the rest is USA made! 49.95 gets the conversion and you can use the certificate.

ch'e, I found the Mexican Raisin Bran striking because in part, America became the America we see today in part because of the manufacturing and exporting of USA made goods and technology. Today most hard and soft goods manufacturing is sourced off-shore and now we can't even make cereal here! No knock intended here, but it's one thing to have never had such industries it's another to have had them and lose them.

Again, it's not about the people getting/doing the work, in fact if sending more work to Mexico would help stabilize that nation, great, but it won't. And my last trip to border town in 2001, we ate like kings, were treated like kings and drank their water with zero side effects.

Re: The world is ending!

I ordered a Christmas gift of UGG shoes...you know, "UGG Australia" brand... got them today, Made in Vietnam.

So when I try to buy foreign, I get it X 2! LOL

Re: The world is ending!

I'm clueless, How do decide to send one style of shoe to one country and another style, under the same brand, to another? I mean is Vietnam known to build house shoes cheaper than China?

Frank you are welcome, glad I could do it. Just wanted to say thanks for your past service to this nation and your vision which is seen today as SnipersHide. Have a Great Christmas!

kennels.

Just got back from a week in Beijing. Utter shit pit. If we don't sort ourselves out and the dominant superpower becomes China we're proper fucked. I was always leery of buying anything made in China if there was a viable alternative before but now I might just do without. The idea of helping that nation and their govt. progress towards dominance turns my stomach - as does their food.

Re: The world is ending!

I wanted to buy some frozen fish at Kroger. Almost all the frozen fish is labeled "Product of China", including the "Wild caught Alaskan Salmon"!!!
I won't eat food from a country that sends our kids poison toys.....
