Was at walmart just a few, checking out. Ton a fun, in front of me with 48 4D tit's an an ass wider that my truck door bought some kids book on sale that were 90% off. Cashier calls manager to override the register. to over ride you have to plum in the selling price, none of them knew what 90% off a $2.97 item would be. I just stood there an ask them if they had went to school? Got the look from them all, an the manager ask if I knew the correct price. I just laughed an said the price is 29.7cents each course your going to rd up like the thiefts you are so they will be 30 cents each an with tax at 10% they well be 33cents out the door. They just stood there in disbelief. We are fucked as this is your voting block! What a cluster fuck this country has become !!!!

This is a basic failure of our education system on display. Most blame it on common core mathematics, however, it's not so much the system it was a failure to train the teachers to properly teach common core. They are attempting to teach it as a system of absolutes when it actually involves multiple advanced mathematical concepts that can't be taught that way. In light of this failure, we need to either retrain the educators or revert to the past curriculum.

Revert gets my vote. Take the electronics away, an make them do it with graphite/ink & paper first. A slide rule an paper took us to the moon. The store manager really got pissed when he said he had a collage education, an before I thought I made comment he should ask for his money back.

A college education and intelligence do not always go hand in hand. Can't count the number of over educated idiots I've met that need flashcards to tie their shoes.

I had to teach my own child to count money.

I've been working on a training manual at work. I've been taking pictures of various pipe Chase's, pumps, valves, gauges, etc, so I could dump them in Publisher and make everything idiot proof.
I had quite a few pages worked up, boxed valves, arrows indicating flow, detailed text boxes explaining what to do if the pump is air locked, it was beautiful.

So I hand it to my top operator who did the same thing at his previous job. "Where is this?"
"You know where it is, it says Clarifier Pumps!"
"Yes, I know that, where's the picture of the entrance door?"
"Come on man, lots of the new kids we will be getting the next few years have BS degrees in Environmental science!"
"Joe, you've got to treat them like you are teaching a 5 year old."
I just shook my head and gave him a withering look.

I promised my boss I'd finish this before I retire in February 2019. I'm not sure it's possible.
We've got a couple 20 something's right now. They are a whiz on the SCADA stuff. If they have to manually turn a valve they will stare at it like a calf staring at a new gate. "Why can't we turn this on from SCADA?"
