Thoughts on a local TRG 42 deal

Hey,

Im new here. I had considered buying a TRG that came into a store I worked at years back, but passed at the time. This popped up locally and seems like a great deal.

It’s a used 1:10 twist rifle, supposedly low round count as the last owner was older with health conditions. It comes with a 5.5-22x50 NXS Nightforce with MOAR reticle, a silencerco radius range finder, a factory SAKO bipod, and a second factory mag. The brake is a YHM QD mount.

Seller is asking $4500 for the setup. He offered the YHM Titanium Phantom 338 for $500 once he has his SOT and can transfer it.

Any thoughts or concerns? Seems like a good deal, but I bet you all know more about this than I would. I would have to move some items to make it happen, so I’m trying to make sure it’s worth it.

Is a decent deal monetarily speaking? - Yes.

Whether it is worth it is completely subjective and only you can answer that. I hate selling guns to buy guns, so something would have to be really damn high on my list of desires to have to give something else up that I desired earlier. And if funds are that limited, imagine what buying a bunch of .338 ammo/reloading supplies are going to cost you.

Very true. It’s something that just popped up, so I hadn’t really been planning on buying one at this time. I’m just not too familiar with used values on these rifles and the optic/rangefinder.

Buy the rifle package and can, sell the scope to help pay for a better mil/mil ffp day optic. This advice assumes its worth it to you.

Yeah, it’s a non zero stop, Sfp, and Moa. What do those things go for?
Check Gunbroker and ebay as there's always NSX scopes in MOA selling there (very few mil-based NSX on ebay as it's primarily FUDD-landia now when it comes to gun and gun-related items). If you have the box, papers, etc and the scope is in good shape, you can prob get at or close to the top of the market on there...Only problem with selling shit on places like eBay and GB is the potential for IRS reporting - you'll have to research what these type of sites are doing now when it comes to IRS reporting as I'm not sure...but wanted to call it out so you're at least aware of it...

Otherwise, you can do a search in the PX to see recent listings/sales for an idea if you decide to sell it on here (you'll need to upgrade your account to 'Supporter' which is $20.00 per month but can cancel at anytime).
