Ok im looking to change my 257 weatherby mag barrel.I got a rem. 700 started life as a sps. i bought a boyds lam. stock and had it bedded.I have bought a new s.s shilen select match .25 cal. #5 contour 1-10 twist barrel for it. I am hoping to get Roscoe from Louisiana Precision Rifles to do the smithing for me.My question is would you guys keep this rifle a weatherby or change to a 25-06 AI.? I have been toying with this idea for somewtime now and i have the barrrel and Shilen trigger now.I going to get him to Blue print my Action and chamber the barrel and bed stock. This rifle will be for hunting only.I will punch paper some but maybe 100-200 shoots per year...This will be my first custom Gun and want something that is still huntable and shoots good 1/2" to 1/4".My next question is zero freebore weatherby.I spoke with one smith that suggested a zero freebore. I do reload 100% of all my ammo but what are the benifits of the zero freebore?I have spoke with Roscoe once in the Begining of the year but it has taken me a while to collect all the parts as i am on a budjet like most folks.I plan on contacting him and visiting him personaly about the build but did not want to bother the man until i had all my parts on hand..Thanks for all the help sorry for such a long post but i am getting ready to spend alot of money and would like yalls input ..thanks.
