Is there a most common thread pattern for .45 auto suppressors?

I'm asking while considering suppressing a 1911 in .45 auto.
(and I'd happily take any advice as to what specific can, dry or wet, and what not as I don't claim to have the first clue here.) Thanks all.

Re: Thread pattern for .45 Auto?

16mm x 1.0mm LH is the popular metric thread , as used on the H&K Tactical ( Mk23 is RH ). Some people consider the metric thread to be stronger ( more metal left in the barrel after threading )...

Agreed. That is my experience.

While 16x1 is a popular thread pattern for some foreign host weapons, the .578x28 thread pattern is by far the most common for 1911s. Most 1911s use a bushing style barrel. There simply is not enough material to thread 16mm on a 1911 barrel unless it is a bull barrel.

My suppressed 1911s all use Jarvis barrels threaded to .578x28. I use a Jarvis barrel threaded that pattern in my Sig P220 as well.

When I was selling suppressors the vast majority of .45 ACP suppressors leaving my shop had .578x28 pistons in them. I'd ballpark it as maybe 7 out of 8 suppressors were going to be used on a host with .578x28 threads.

Regarding suppressor models, right now the Silencerco Osprey and the AAC TiRant are the top two performers as far as sound reduction goes. Both are reliable on every host weapon on which I've shot them.

I own a Silencerco Osprey and am very, very happy with its performance.

Best of luck to you.
