Hey guys, I'm looking for a throat mic. Was wondering what you guys use. Cause i've been looking around and there seems to be alot of crap. Not sure if alot of the claims are true. So i'd appreciate any user feedback on any. Thanks guys!

Re: Throat mic help?

Ive used the Pryme Throat mics. They are about as good as they get, but still arent great. Go with a boom if you can. Much clearer sound and you can also whisper if you need to, were throat mics need sound/vibrations to work properly. You just need to take care of them as not bend/bash them around to much when your not wearing it. Also look after the connection to the radio itself. Alot of guys when they run the wires through their vests put tight bends and kinks in them. 90% of the time this is were your comms set will fail first.

Thry these guys. Ive brought from them before. You order what you want and they will build it to your specs.

Re: Throat mic help?

We have had issues with bone mic's. Can't hear what the guys are saying half the time and they are a pain to wear. I turned mine back in because it stopped working and I really didn't want another.

I have just gotten to the point that I run my regular lapel mic clipped to my entry vest, then run a FOX earpiece under my Peltors. I will be replacing that with a Peltor cable soon so I can just plug the ears into the mic.

Re: Throat mic help?

Without knowing your application/mission it's hard making a useful recommendation. Either way, I'd stay away from throat and bone mic's.

ComTac II's with a boom mic for more overt work.
Motorola 2 or 3 wire lapel mic for plain clothes work.

well my application is culling feral pests etc. Just wanted something good to use with VOC motorola radio cause i work with a few retards. lol

Looks like a clip on mic or boom is the best way to go. Thanks for the help guys!
