Hey Guys,

I Apologize if this has already been discussed. I did a quick search and couldn't find an answer on here.

I have a McMillan A-5 stock with a Ctr inlet. I ended up picking up a different stock because the A-5 was a little too bulky for my needs. Does anyone know if a different model Tikka would drop into this stock? Was hoping to pick up a used varmint model so i can run 22-250. Just wanted to see if that was possible before i sell the stock. I'm guessing the CTR inlet is bigger but i figured I'd ask just in case. ?

Thanks in advance for the help!

The tikka varmint models have a thicker barrel than the ctr. If your stock has a ctr barrel channel it will need to be opened up. I did my mcmillan in 15 minutes. I used a socket and 100 grit sandpaper. Easy as can be.

Along with opening up the barrel channel you will need CTR bottom metal. All tikka tikka t3 actions are the same ( long action) just different bolt stops.

Thanks for the reply's! So I'd just need to get an aftermarket CTR bottom metal and use AICS pattern 22-250 mags.

Will a normal t3 action cycle with the ctr mag setup?

CTR mags are not the same as AICS (accuracy international chassis system) therefore won’t fit in CTR bottom metal. Sounds like your McMillan is inletted for the CTR bottom metal so you’ll need ctr 308 mags. 22-250 is a little smaller round than 308 so I’m not sure about feeding. There's a few companies making aftermarket ctr bottom metals that are AICS compatible. That's what I was referring to, figured it would be easier to get mags to work that way.
I dropped a 22-250 varmint into a factory CTR stock and it has ran without a problem in CTR mags. I recently swapped it into the new KRG Bravo that takes CTR mags and it still feeds and functions perfectly.

Sweet! That's what i was hoping to hear.

Thanks for the help man!
