With all the shit going on these days, I figured I'd make a post saying "Fuck it, go shooting". Out in Montana now nailing some prairie dogs, unplugging from the rat race and constant barrage of f'ed up shit. What are you guys doing/done this summer to do the same?

This is my buddies and me waiting for the dogs to come back up on their mounds...

8300mi and 6 weeks with the kids . A 4 runner, and a tent, only a handful of hotel nights.
Head waters of the Rio grande, the alpine loop, gunnison, gates of ladore green river, gros ventre river, yellow stone, absorke beartooth range, aero lakes, mystic lake, golden trout lake, both rosebuds, random nfs campsite idaho/mt border, mt Rainier, Olympic national forest, 8 days camping on rialto beach Olympic national park, mt hood, some resivoure outside of boise.

Child Bride and I spent 3 days in Medora, ND. Found some gopher shooting grounds 40 miles NW of here, will check that out. Working, shooting, reloading, getting the past residence ready for market, already thinking about the coming winter. Lots to do

Very little I do, say or think will change the current national state of affairs, so, keep the head down, fly below the radar, build up the ammo stash.

Best Ive done is a funeral at Arlington National Cemetery. . Other than that Im just being jealous of the rest of ya. Have fun. Yellowstone is #1 on my bucket list.

I'll be in my play pen till the h2o drops below 50 degrees. Then riding dirt & trail till it snows.

Oh and I took my 6 and 7yo rafting down the ocoee. It was a big step up for them. They graduated to a class III ride. I was heckling all the "proffessional" river guides who were stuck on rocks. I mean the lines ain't changed in the 20 years I've been out there.

This last weekend at Medora The Child Bride and I drove the 36 mile loop through the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Beautiful scenery, real change of pace for flatlanders like us. We saw a few hundred acres of these:

I call the big dogs Jabba the Huts. Some of these guys are Jabbas X 2. Fat, tame and huge! The trigger finger got twitchy, eyes glassed over, memories of red mist splat....could only take deep breaths and drive on. Also saw a lot of these:

The signs that say "Do not approach animals" are to be heeded.

Hope you get lots of dogs.

Well, I finally got back into shooting and loading! I've been loading when I'm up to it at night when it's cooler, and I've been out to the NF to test fire the two .50's I've had in the vault for a few years. I put a thread up about that with pictures, the M2 wasn't bad but the HTI was just a beast, forgot ear pro the first shot and scope bit the second! It was still one of the best days of the year.

The M2 still makes me giggle when I fire it.
