Re: Trainee Flash Bang Fail

They certainly do pack an impact....been a little too close to the training munitions.

One of my first SWAT instructors told of a new team member who improperly prepared/secured a DefTec in his vest and it went off in the van ride to the call out. It caught the seat on fire, filled the van with smoke, and had him pissing blood for several days (was in a pouch over his flank). Driver did a hell of a job not crossing into oncoming traffic.

I'm curious, how many of your teams test, measure and record over pressure figures created by your devices in various size and type of environments (rooms) ? I was trainined to keep such records and always passed this along in classes I instructed. I always used an Anderson Blast Gauge and kept records ... saved my bacon twice during injury/damage claims in Court.

Re: Trainee Flash Bang Fail

I remember a vid that made the rounds about a year or two ago that had an entry team member pull the pin on a flash bang and forgot to put the pin back in and put it into his cargo pocket. Needless to say he crumpled.
