You are missing the point.....I am going to use nice round numbers to make a point....let say the US imports $500 billion from China...while the EU, Japan, Canada, etc. import at least $500 billion more....further, Chinese trade practices have a negative impact on fair and free trade among these allied countries - these other countries along with the US built most of the worlds economy since WWII, members of NATO, etc. If I walked into negotiations with like minded people that represented more than 1x more than I buy from China...the ability to put pressure increases dramatically. If you are going to start a war or trade war in this day and age, it's better to have more leverage than less...You just don't get how this works. Trade deals can be done between two countries that are allies, of course, BUT give me ONE example of a situation where two countries are at a stalemate, like the US and China currently are, AND an ally joined the discussion as being a third party and worked out a multilateral trade agreement between all three.
We might have different definitions for "ally".
You have your opinion and I have mine....we obviously disagree and that's ok....have a great day!
