TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

We will try to use a couple of trucks and stay in the high grass if possible. I have ruts from the last match that need fixed I dont wanna make anymore. I think if we're carefull we will be ok. If we drive it will be the minimum amount of vehicals needed to haul us around. No more one guy per vehical...please. Hope you all understand.

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

What a perfect day for a match. Nice white painted steel targets, a little bit of sun, and no bugs yet. All we needed was more shooters. Thanks again, Tom.

I ended up with a blue Carhartt sweatshirt in the bed of my truck if anyone lost one. I don't know how, but it made it all the way home. I'll bring it to the next match.

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

Tom,

Thanks for posting the reward for cleaning the Steel Intimidator.

My humble advice to anyone who has not shot the TVP Intimidator: give it try. Even though you have access to exact ranges to the targets, MOA or larger targets for all shots, nice prone shooting positions, this is a good, challenging course. For one to clean this course, you have to be perfect for wind, which is difficult here. The low hills at TVP create some swirls that are hard to read at times. Little vegetation on the terrain does nothing to shield the trajectories. Like ASC, you will shoot in different directions from different points, so even if the wind is consistant, you will see it from different directions.

Impossible, no. Easy, not by any stretch. If it were, it would be done by now. My hat is off to anyone who cleans the Intimidator, $5k or not. If you do it on your first time across, you're God.

Semper Fidelis,

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

quick question tom, i have a bad neck so i cannot shoot prone. that being said would using one of the tripod rests like they're using in iraq and afghanistan be acceptable???
i hope so or i will just shoot for fun however i can.
thanks

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

The 19th is coming up soon.

Just remember, when you you sign up.Make sure to to give the person the extra $5.00 along with the match fee for the $5,000.00 payback. Provided you shoot a perfect 160 on the Intimidator.

I hope the weather is good to us.

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

Breeze,

I'm looking to come back out the last weekend in July. I'm awaiting to hear back from Tom. I want to shoot the Intimidator match on 1 Aug. My dad wants to shoot the Newbie day, I offered to support the Newb day however Tom needs it.

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

Yea is it a great place to shoot. If you ever get a chance to come over this way, it is well worth the trip.

And yet I still don't see anybody coming to claim the prize.

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

Range record would have fallen this weekend, if not for the pesky clock.
Newer shooter to course, helping newbie buddy.
Time up, engage target, no score.
First round hit.(875)

As most of us know, it is not about competing, but working together to get better.

Tom has given us a one of a kind place to play.

Thank-you.

This made me giggle because I thought the same thing....yet I still don't have those green-backs in my pocket. Good luck!

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

Like the sound of that Scout. So even if you don't win it sounds like it might still be deductible.... as well as the travel/lodging expenses <?>

You really in Ringoes? I work right across the river. I always assumed you were out in Hudson County - Dirty City? LOL

I would really like to get out to TVP for one of these matches. Heard about the intimidator and would like to give it a try. I'm trying to find matches to stretch my legs at - and also stretch the legs of my .338 AWSM ;-)

Take care guys - off to Reade Sniper Challenge tomorrow!

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

Congratulations to van for setting the new range record, a 142. Phenomenal shooting today on his part. However, the $5000 prize still remains up for grabs.

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

Way to go, van. I think most of us knew that was coming, but just didn't know when you were going to do it. 18 more points and you'll be able to get through the winter a happy man.

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

congrats Van....I knew it was inevitable. We had shot a practice round togather about 4 Wednesdays ago.....I think Van shot a 144 or thereabouts.....

so....the little thing I told you about "One shot at a time" must have been working....cool....

What you gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you!!!!!

Get your clock cleaned on the Intimidator!

Great job blowing the record out of the water. I was glad that I was around to see history being made.

Also hats off to Tom and Breeze for cleaning the Short Course.

Another great weekend at TVP!

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

Just finally got a minute to sit down..

Congratulations Karl/Van for setting a new record!
Lots of practice and a very accurate rifle makes you a great shooter...IF you work hard at it like Karl has. He has not missed many Wednesday practices or many weekends taking advantage of the $20 all day training.
Karl has been a member of TVP for over 8 years and I remember the first time I meet him we became friends. Since then he has made a great journey overs the years and has became a very good longrange shooter.
Keep it up Karl..your just a few points away.

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

Congrats Van,very impressive!What were your stats,as far as 1st rd,2nd rd,and 3rd rd hits go,obviously you got alot of 1st rd. hits.

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

Thanks Guys. I really appreciate it.

Thinking back to Saturday. I was not thinking about records being broken. I was thinking about well placed first round hits. Believe it or not,I wanted to do better. I have two targets that are a real pain to hit first shot. If at all.

The targets are:
-Position 1,Target 3,1165 yards
(I took a third round hit there)
-Position 3,Target 4,1040 yards
(I took a complete miss there)

My elevations were good but the wind calls were not. I will need to spend more time on paying attention to wind at the two positions.

When I realized where I was on the score,I was at Position 4. I remember being there before and I choked. I knew this time it was not going to happen again. Mental preparation helps. That only comes from practice. It works for me anyway.

van

Edit- Thanks Tom for your help.

Re: TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

There's something awesome about an old school challenge where the gauntlet is thrown down. I'm not anywhere close to being able to take a stap at this one yet!
