I’ve had this program for several years and watched it develop from a great fire control program into a complete ballistics and load development package. Gus has devoted a huge amount of time into its nearly exponential growth and functionality.

Recently he came out with LB3 which was an improvement for the mobile platform but then launched LB3 for the desktop. I was so impressed with the new engine and interface that I felt compelled to thank him. If you have seen or used LB2 you won’t believe the change, and it’s a free upgrade.

Bottom line, between LB3 and Quickload I have complete ballistics, load development and R&D available on my computer. In my comparisons, LB3 is the Photoshop of ballistics programs.

This note is meant for your information; I’m not interested in a pissing match. I’m not trying to sell anything and I receive nothing for promoting this. However, for any of you that I compete against in matches, please disregard this recommendation.

See shots for screen shots, (the menu on the right is functional even if your cursor does not change).

Ross, I'm thinking hard about getting a load development program and was looking at QL. You compare LB3 and QL 1. Is that the most current version of QL? And in your experience, how does the data compare? I'm not talking about all the gucci interface stuff - I'm most interested in what data comes out.

Just trying to get an honest comparison - I don't have a dog in either fight.

Ross, it's been pretty much what I've seen with LB, going from LB2 to LB3. I feel after many hours of running many different programs and seeing
real life trajectories that LB3 is the cream of the crop. There is no better. It puts out some amazing accurate drop tables. Even more so when
LoadBase is allowed to calculate the BC and DC (Drag Coefficient).

I agree... LoadBase 3.0 is to the ballistic softwares what
Adobe Photoshop is to the other graphic editing programs.

Re: UNPAID testimonial - Patagonia Load Base Program

I have been using it for a while also. Got it on the group buy here on the Hide. Had some issue with registration but customer service was excellent and got it handled very well. LB2 had a poor selection of .50 so I sent them my info on the .50BMG and .50DTC and they put all of it into the program including the DTC case specs. Was a little disappointed a few times when new tables came out and it erased some saved data. I had emailed them on adding a firearm collection data with pictures and was told they really didn't want to get into that but low and behold LB3 has that in there. Nice feature. I still have not picked up any hand held to run the mobile yet. Still looking for a reasonable pocket PC that will run mobile 5

Re: UNPAID testimonial - Patagonia Load Base Program

as a new person to using the ballistic programs i bought this program and enjoy it. It is user friendly and the support when i do have a question is SUPER quick.

Re: UNPAID testimonial - Patagonia Load Base Program

One thing I appreciate about the software is that I've found Gus extremely responsive to feature requests. I've made a couple of small feature requests that were implemented and released inside of a month or so.

On a sidenote: The new support in v3 for G7 BC's is really nice.

Re: UNPAID testimonial - Patagonia Load Base Program

I can not say enough about Gus's customer service. I am somewhat computer challenged to say the least. Gus has always gotten back to me extremely quick whenever I had a question. I would highly recommend Patagonia/Loadbase.

Re: UNPAID testimonial - Patagonia Load Base Program

Reaper,
Ql serves another purpose different than LB3. I use both but to answer your question, in one place the load data is directly comparable, the load I tested was within 10f/s, which was very good.

Re: UNPAID testimonial - Patagonia Load Base Program

OK so just got another update from patagonia and sure a shit it erased my entire database of firearms and data AGAIN. Man this is what just pisses me off about this program. They really need to do something about that. Oh and got two emails for two different updates but after the first update it asks if I want to modify or repair the program on the second update. AARRRGGGHHH!!!!

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one that was cursing all over the place. Every time I decide to update now I print out all the pertinent stuff before. Since I have been using the G7 BC's it's been great.

Re: UNPAID testimonial - Patagonia Load Base Program

Guys, are you talking about 3.0.0.3 update? The very latest
one from today 12/10/2009? Reason I'm asking is bacause I did
not loose anything. Meaning the ballistic database with my different loads.

The only possible way you gents got your info lost was syncing both devices and going in the wrong direction from an empty one. That way will
be gone... But it's important to realize that'd be a user error and not a
program error.

Hope that helps!

Re: UNPAID testimonial - Patagonia Load Base Program

No, the last few updates were good to go. I never lost anything. I have been helped tremendously by customer service (hardware issues).

Re: UNPAID testimonial - Patagonia Load Base Program

So I have all this info like firearm data and loads. I opened it up 3 days prior and it was ll there. I get the email for the update

Installation steps :

1) Download (SAVE) the installer (4.91 MB) from the following link.

Click to start the download or copy the web address to your browser.

http://www.patagoniaballistics.com/software/LoadBase3_Desktop_Program_Update.msi

2) Save the installer file to your PC (LoadBase3_Desktop_Program_Update.msi)

3) f it's running, close and exit LoadBase 3.0© Desktop edition before applying the update.

4) Run the LoadBase3_Desktop_Program_Update.msi installer

5) When the install procedure is finished, you are ready to go.

6) To start over, just click the desktop icon of LoadBase 3.0©

When in doubt on how to perform an operation or using a feature, please check the online Manual.

Sincerely,

Patagonia Ballistics

I do exactly what it says. I do nothing more then reopen the program and all my firearms data and load data are gone. Says I have none. I don't know how that can be operator error.

Re: UNPAID testimonial - Patagonia Load Base Program

The Mechanic,

another way it's possible to accomplish the loosing of your
data would be following way:

I receive two e-mails with the same information due to purchasing also a license for my laptop; in any event, if you
get to e-mails of the same file and install the first one and then you install the second one, being the same file, the second installation will ask you if you want to: MODIFY, REPAIR o REMOVE… If you click on REPAIR LB will do an override and your data will be gone.
When in doubt just send an e-mail to Patagonia Ballistic, they're super fast and their costumer service is second to none.

Wow can't believe I missed the chance to rag on you about this....

Yep Loadbase 2 was great. With the move up to 3...it's outstanding.
