No. Focal length of the lenses determine field of view. Short focal length lens will have a wider FOV.
I don't think it does J. I believe it has more to do with a measurement of angle seen through the eyepiece...shorter eyepiece, greater angle and more field of view and vice versa. Probably other factors involved or I could just be full of shit and don't have a clue but it sounded good!
