I mean you can lay prone for days, sleep on it, fits you like a glove in every position. No neck pain, no numb fingers, no moving it around every 2minutes to get back on target. I am talking about bolt action stocks. I have read that the Sako is one of them and that no Sako stocks are made for Remy actions. I don't know but the Bell&Carlson Tacticle Medalist A5 Adjustable looks just like it. What do you think fits the bill, whats the Serta or Sleep Number Mattress of Rifle Stocks?

Re: What the most Comfortable stock made?

The most comfortable stock made...IS THE ONE MOST COMFORTABLE TO YOU.

Seriously, you can get all the opinions in the world, but due to different body types, different shooting techniques and positions, different personal preferences or individual requirements, no answer is the right answer for YOU.

The best advice you can get is for you to try out as many different models (McMillan A-series stocks, Manners T-series stocks, AICS, etc.) and see what works best for you personally.

+1... and sometimes the stocks that "look" the greatest... aren't...

I was at a local match and a guy had a KMW sentinel and the stock looked amazing.. he was gracious enough to let me lie down and dry fire it....
I instantly hated the stock, but I would have never guessed that without actually getting behind it.....
you have to drive them to know for sure.....

Stocks are 100% a personal preferance once you figure out your budget and understand the difference in quality within the price ranges.

My reccomendation would be to determine what you would like to spend and then filter from there. Also need to consider which features are important to you. Do you need adj lop or cheek rest? Are you wanting a drop in fit or something that needs bedding? What bottom metal do you intend to use or are you looking to run a detachable magazine.

Lots of factors and many options that will work in almost any budget...just need to provide a bit more info for us to help you out.

Re: What the most Comfortable stock made?

Eagle,

Come on up north to Houston, MO for one of our matches. You'll get a chance to try any number of Macs, Manners, and AI's. Throw in a Bell and Carlson or two and you'll be a lot closer to finding what works best for you.

I'm a bit of Mcmillan fan myself. I've owned A4's, A5's, and an HTG. I like the A4 and A5 a lot, but my next stock may well be a Manners T5A.

Re: What the most Comfortable stock made?

Its trial and error, I used to love the AICS but then started shooting A5's and now almost every LR rig I have now is in an A5 ,this gets expensive BTW. Its whatever fits you like said before. The best way to find something is if you have friends that will let you get behind thier sticks to try out.

Re: What the most Comfortable stock made?

Long-Shot
I would Love to. Actually this is a post for some R&D on my part. I mean if I was to take an average for what everyone was suggesting then thats what I would go with for a certain build.

Re: What the most Comfortable stock made?

I'd have to say it would be one of two...one that fits your body perfectly in all firing positions or one made of very nice soft pillow material.

Re: What the most Comfortable stock made?

When I was looking for my stock, I tried every stock my shop had. Each one had features I liked, and I ended up getting the one that fir me personally out of the bunch. My friend tried the exact same stocks and didn't like the feel of mine at all. Feel is so personal that only you can decide what feels best for you.

Re: What the most Comfortable stock made?

Speaking for myself, I have owned Mcree, HS PSS,Hs pistol grip and high cheek piece(pst025 i think) Hs varmit, AISC II, two McMillan a5 stocks and I like in the a5 the most, the HS stock with high comb and pistol grip is nice also.
The AISC is an absolute tank but is a little uncofortable(it has a lot of redeeming features-durability, adjustability, folding, it is just a little sharp edged and boxey to me.)

I like the way an action sits low in the Mcmillan a5 and I like the snag free design of the a5. Get behind as many as you can and then pick the one that suits your needs and feels good. The aisc is a good one to start with because it does not need to be bedded and it is easy to sell on the hide if you do not like it.

After all the ones I have tried at this time I prefer the a5 but will also keep my aisc . (the a5 I have is the graphite version and is extremely light.)

Re: What the most Comfortable stock made?

I too have owned many different stocks: AICS 2, HS, Mcmillan A5, Bell and Carlson Tactical, Choate. As most everyone has said, it will come down to personal preference.

My best advice would be to purchase a quality stock with LOP and Cheek rest adjustment. With both of those options you can taylor the stock to fit you perfectly. A stock that fits you will be more comfortable than one that doesn't. Also I prefer a stock with a butt hook, it's a nice place for that off hand.

It's a toss up for me with the A5 and AI. If I would have to choose, the nod would go to the AI.

What's the most comfortable shoes made?

What's the best tasting steak?

What's the best flavor of soda?

That's for YOU to decide.

Get to a regional match and be friendly and humble. I bet you will get a chance to get behind a bunch of different stocks and get first hand opinions. I have yet to have someone tell me "no" when I asked if I could look at/get behind their rifle (when asked at the right time of course).

I like my B&C Light Tactical, but I have been spending a LOT of time on a AI Chassis because that's how that rifle comes. They both work just fine. I don't really have a preference for one or the other because they both allow me to put a bullet where I need to put it. The next "custom" I put together will probably be in a McMillan A1-3 just because I want to try one.

But the McMillan HTG for some reason always feels like "home".

1+. I tend to favor the AI stocks. I also like the B&C stock as well. There are certainly plenty to choose from. The best suggestion is what LoneWolfUSMC suggested.

Re: What the most Comfortable stock made?

I dont agree with most of you here, its not only about personal preference, its very much in the design too. If we take a stock that is made in 1960th pattern like most stocks are, then you are right. But if we take a modern stock like the Trg folder or the DSR rifle those stocks are very adjustable and mostly shooters can get à stock that fits them extremely well. Another big point is the possibility to alter the stock quickly so it fits the Various shooting positions

Re: What the most Comfortable stock made?

Like many above said, it is personal preference. The most important thing you can do is buy on that you can adjust to fit your personal build. A L.O.P. and Cheekweld that is off will make you feel awkward and uncomfortable behind it. It will never seem to find a place in your shoulder that it repeatibly calls home.

I like the AICS. I will admit at first I didn't like it much. A freind convinced me to hang on to it and shoot it for a while before making a final decision to get rid of it. Man am I glad he did. I've had it for about 5 years now and love it. It fits me like a glove and I feel like I'm driving it rather than just hanging on to it going along for the ride.

Hope it helps.

Hmmm.... More please!!! And Thank you. So far the stock looks like it needs to be adjustable....ok so....

What the most comfortable Adjustable Stock made....and please Remeber this is R&D your helping me help you.

Re: What the most Comfortable stock made?

I have used them all too even tube guns, my preference is HS though I love the palm swell. Although I have had issues with the adjustable LOP on issued M24s. Too many shooters one gun

I also thought the KMW Sentinel was the perfect stock that I had been waiting for my whole life. I spent more than enough time handling and getting behind it to find out it wasn't for me.
