Rifle Scopes Whats the Best tactical scope under $1000?

I just ordered a Savage 110ba in 338 lapua. That being said I need a decent scope for it. I cant afford a $2000 job at this point but maybe some day. I know the gun is capable of reaching out to 1000 yards pretty easily and I'd like a scope that would get me there. At this point I would like to be around a $1000 with rings. Let me know what you guys think would suit this rifle and be the best bang for the buck.

Weaver tactical 3-15x EMDR, locking exposed turrets, ffp, good glass.

I guarantee that you can enter "best scope for under $1,000" into the custom SH search engine that is under the shout box and come up with lots of threads and current info.

338 was not designed to be used with a "best tactical scope under 1000".

That caliber to be used to its potential requires accurate tracking and the ability to absorb recoil among many other things. Budget builds shouldn't be built off of non budget calibers.

Pick up A SS, the SS 5-20x50 is $1299 from SWFA, or one of the SS fixed power scopes, hard to beat the price.

Go with a nikon. It will track just fine and you dont need a tactical scope for the job, you just need to read up on the specs of a scope then you will no what route to take. I use a nikon monarc with a 20 moa base. It tracks fine with my 300 wsm out to 600 yards. I have not tried past that yet. Good luck

This is more of a temp set up till I can afford the scope I want,Nightforce 12-42x56mm. Like most I have to up grade as I go.A $1000 scope is not the best scope for this gun but I would like to shot it until I can afford the one I need.

Vortex Viper PST
Bushnell Elite Tactical
Weaver Tactical
Super Sniper

Those are the brands/models you will see most recommended for the $700-$1k range. Do your own research from there- I don't really think you can go wrong with any of them but one may be better suited to you than the rest.

I would give Scott a call before you buy like mentioned here.

I would also check with SWFA and look at their used scope site.

Member Opticsspecialist is a vendor here for Sportoptics.

You could check with member Optics Planet also.

Keep an eye out for something showing up in the for sale section here too.

Mike V if you are looking for something along the line of a high variable powered scope, such as NXS 12-42x56, check out the Sightron SIII SS 8-32x56, it might work for you a little better and Scott at Liberty Optics sells this line.
