Got some email from a member regarding the purchase of a firearm. He offered up a trade and the structure of the deal. We both agreed to it. Then after a few hours after agreeing,he emailed and said he could get the firearm I was selling for less money new and wanted me to drop my price accordingly t keep the deal going. Went on to say that a deal isn't done until contracts are signed and binding. Tough to do on the internet.My business life is based on doing what you say you're gonna do no matter what occurs in the interim. First time I've been disappointed by a Hide members follow through on a sale or purchase. Rant Over.

Oh, that's simple. He was a shitbag. You run into them from time to time, especially when selling on the internet. The longer you sell on the internet, the more shitbags you will run into. I guess it's just a fact of life anymore. There are so few people in this world these days without integrity that I'm suprised deal welching or crawfishing doesn't happen more often. I've sure as hell run into my share of shitbags on the hide. I wouldn't consider them Hiders, however, as they usually have only a post or two and commit to buy something and you never hear from them again.

Dave , if the purchaser was able to find the same rifle for less new than second hand he may have thought you were spanking him ?I am sure you wernt but why would he think you wernt ? and then go stuff this and buy the shiney new one -just an alterative possibility.And as far as your integrity being questioned about posting T&Ass OOOH LOW BLOW !

I have had it happen too. But have had great deals too.

I had a hide member promise to send 10 magazines. He cashed the check and never sent them. I think he got banned. I had a vendor promise me something he never delivered to replace defective merchandise. The substitute he sent is doing the job, but it ain't the same as doing what you said you would do.

I had another hide member ship a high dollar item to me on the PM I sent him. I got the item before he got my check. Yes, my personal check. It amazed me that he would have had such confidence. I typically tell people to hold the stuff as long as they like to assure them the check is not going to bounce.

So we have all kinds on here. The asshole that screwed me on the magazines is a Marine BTW. So not even that holds the promise of integrity that it once did.

I was selling silver yesterday after finding out I might (have) been losing my job - not so true.

My girlfriends mom found out in the morning and told my GF to tell me she would buy them (SHTF money), hadan ad up here and a transaction in process until I found that out - but I used integrity, called the gentelman on his cell phone and apolagized...

Best I could do - refuse to screw anyone over, period.

That was the premise for my rant.

No money or goods changed hands,but it was the principle of it that got me going. He didn't see it that way.

I'v had great luck on here. I was trading a pistol for a scope and the scope showed up befor I even got the pistol to my dealer for the transfer.

All my other deals w/members have been great. Thats what got me most riled,that a member would act like that. I had a scope deal with Fletcher and when I removed the scope, there were some ring marks. I called him and explained the situation and I knocked some money off the deal. Another member did the same for me when the same thing occurred. Thats some awesome integrity and is what I've come to expect on this sight. I buy and sell all over the web and believe me,that type of honesty is hard to come by. Again,my .02

Sorry to hear that Dave,

I have bought and sold items with quite a few hideers.

sent and received items before items before payment on both sides. never been disappointed. One time item was late due to a personal thing, and I got a set of rings with the item as an apology.....

ed..

btw,,, anyone want for nothing a savage model 64 (10 rd mag), .22lr still in the package.... send me a pm and its yours...

I screwed the pootch on a deal with Big Lui, sold him a SS, with the understanding it was a side focus, I wasn't thinking clearly, messed up, sent it to him without double checking. Had some pretty heavy personal issues cloud my thinking. He contacted me letting me know it was wrong and I sent him back a money order for the cost of the scope plus shipping.

I really feel bad that I wasted the guy's time, I know I should have paid more attention. I'm just glad he let me correct my mistake and make things right.

I thought I had a special ability to feel out forums and decide if it was one I wanted to use the classifieds on or avoid them. I had gone years without having to deal with any of that kind of BS. In the past six months, I have had it happen three times. Not on this forum, but on others, some of which I've been using for damn near 10 years. People saying they'll buy something, then say check is on the way, then disappearing; people saying they'll take an offer then decide AFTER I sent the money order they didn't want to sell it that cheap; etc. Just pisses me off.
I've only had a few dealings on this forum, but it seems to have the feel of a place where this kind of asshattery would be limited.
