If a fella wanted to build a nice 870 and have about a 13 inch LOP stock and "police" style forend (doesn't cover the receiver) made for it out of some NICE walnut with an oil finish, where would he find that sort of thing? Unfinished would be fine, but I don't want to have to inlet or shape it, just sand, stain, tung oil.

All the nice figured Walnut forends that I've found are full size. I want one more like the old "corncob" police forend.

If anyone has a source for such things, or a shop that could custom-make a set, let me know.

Thanks!

Ok, just talked to the folks at MTCustomguns, and I need to clarify that I'm NOT able to afford a $1600 stock set. Sounds like they could really do exactly what I wanted, but I don't need handmade. Just a machine-made stock to factory spec out of nice Walnut that I can finish. My biggest obstacle right now is finding the short forend made of nice wood.

If anybody has a clean police-style forend, I might be interested!

That was a good idea, I just talked to Greg over there. He said they used to have to burn them they had so many, but now about all they get is synthetic stuff. When they do get a wood stock, it's in very bad shape usually.

I just KNEW that was going to work! Thanks for the suggestion, though!
