Re: Which bi-pod to buy-Atlas, GG&G, Tango Down, or...
SCAR123, first, thank you for considering the Atlas in your search. You already own the standard of all bipods, the Harris, which is a great bipod. However there was a expressed need for a bipod that did more than the Harris did. And with the SH name starting with SCAR you should appreciate it was the guidelines established by that program that we followed in designing the Atlas. I'll also suggest the Atlas is not a competition bipod, but rather for use where other bipods fail to accommodate the shooters needs.
The details about the Atlas are found on our website, the BT10 weighs under 11 ounces which is the lightest of any full featured bipods as well as most with considerably fewer features.
Also as another SH member mentioned, there are bipod makers (3 I think now) that are now including the 45 degree leg position "just like the Atlas" which speaks to the novelty of this concept introduced by the Atlas. The 5H will have other novel features that will Rock the bipod world as well.
Regarding the cost, we actually introduced the Atlas (not the SH intro) at a reduced rate just to get them on them market. We did not build to a
price point, just used the best materials for the job and added a modest profit. Since introducing the Atlas we have been blessed with a volume of sales we chose not to adjust the price EVEN though our costs have gone up. It is proudly manufactured and assembled in America.
So SCAR123, I trust you are putting this bipod on your SCAR and I also trust your range time will be mostly on square ranges. If my conclusions are on
track, I'd see how the tango down bipod fit when folded away, if nice and tight to the stock, I'd buy that.
Again, thank you for your considerations.
And a big Thank you you our supporters, we would not be where we are today without your support and for that I will always be grateful.
