If I got a call from Premier’s Public Relations guy and did not know he was fired and I was told Premier is going to be closing their doors tomorrow I would take it as truth also. I would have CALLED and talked to Chris (the owner) to see what was up before I posted though.

I’m not here to argue the contract and I’m not posting to push Premier. What I’m doing is stating what I have been told by one of the best sources I know and that is Chris the owner of Premier Reticles (not the ex-PR guy). Chris has been up front and honest with me on many levels of the company and has not given me any reason not to believe him to this point. Premier makes great scopes and they keep improving them.

Also, I have heard this statement “Premier is going to be closing their doors (this week / next week)” over and over again for the past few months and none of it has turned out to be true. They have a great product and they continually improve upon it. I’m sticking with Premier...

When the PR guy said he was done, he must have made it sound like he quit or was laid off. Still, inexcusable to just run and post it like it was the gospel truth. I do have to wonder why Premier is having these kind of personnel issues. Maybe Chris has hired people he never should have in the first place. To have two guys go running off at the mouth is a sign of poor judgment on their part, but perhaps also his. Most people know that lashing out in a disgruntled way will usually come back to bite you in the ass.

Well, If I was running a business in a tight economy, the PR guy would be on my short list for getting the ax, Unless the guy was pulling some weight in another area, or doing a bang out job pushing product, I could see loosing that positon in a smaller company.

This seems just as bad as gunwritr. I'm certainly no expert on government scope procurement, but are you? Are you 100% positive that if it ain't on this magic list, it ain't so? B/C if not, this is the exact same kid of bs that gunwritr was spewing. If you are 100% positive that PR has no gov contract, and thus PR is lying, then please accept my apology.

PR has the contract, they've had it for years now. Nobody's disputing that. The fact still remains that the Marines have a bunch of S&B SSDS's sitting on shelves, so they won't be needing any PH's anytime soon.

Schmidt and Bender didnt have a contract with the USMC, Premier was contracted to "assemble" the SB scopes here in AMERICA and fit them with the Gen 2 Mildot for the USMC, so basically Premier was a middle man for SB here in the states. Premiers contract ran out, and then they have been informally outed as per a government website saying that they HAVE NOT recieved any contract for Fiscal year 2010, which started back in October.

Premier had the contract for the USMC SSDS. The contract was for the S&B 3-12x50 MTC scope with the Premier Reticles Gen 2 Mil Dot ret. Premier was the one who assembled the scopes and put their ret in them and was also responsible for any repairs. It was kind of a joint effort you could say, S&B provided the scope, Premier assembled them, put the ret in and fixed them.

In defense of deadly0311, he is correct, most people do not have access to all of the information that is available, as they are not contractors and do not have access to some of the DB's.

However, the information that I posted is the open source data and is accurate as of today's date.

I see that. I just didn't think the fire needed anymore fanning. I too hope that the contract is real. I'm not yet cynical enough to believe that they would just make it up. We also have two trusted vendors (CS and Liberty) that believe what Chris is saying.
Plus, I really want one of the new 1-8 scopes, so I have to believe.

But there isnt much about your statement that was beyond me except the fact that you seem to be outta your league here talking about things you dont really have any knowledge in. Not fanning a fire, I am just providing information instead of accusations and rumors. I have done a ton of business with Premier in the last 15 years, so I do know a little about the back story with the S&B/PR SSDS deal.

I know you want to believe, to keep the dream alive. I had a hot red headed girl friend once that I wanted to believe wasn't totally batshit crazy, but I was sooo wrong.

The initial purchase will be 575 scopes at $1749 each for a total initial delivery order of $1,006,250. The government may purchase up to a maximum of 7500 scopes on this contract over the five-year period the contract is in effect. Work will be performed in Winchester, Va. Thanks, I wasn't 100% sure. I didn't want anyone here thinking they were selling the Marines PH scopes. It remains to be seen if that's what they are recently claiming which, obviously, would change things.

I own a 3-15. I came close to selling it because I got all paranoid by the rumors and back channel chat. Some of what I was told was felt to be true by honest people and some was purposefully misrepresented. I got pissed off to be honest.

I also wrote to Thomas about what he can/should do to better handle all the mudslinging and offered to help. Never heard from him. What he knows about handling people I can write in large letters with a thick pencil on an ant's ass. But here's the thing...

My world won't stop turning even if theirs does. I certainly won't be happy - as some will. What bugs me is the sheer zeal that people attack this company with and the glee they display at it's reputation being sullied. The idiocy of the people who were angered at a company not having all it's parts made in the US but were happily contributing to the demise of an American company - a long standing one at that with a reputation for innovation and competency. What the haters seem to not appreciate is that if Premier goes kaput then we all lose. Some Americans lose their jobs, less product is made here, we lose a company that has at least strived to be clever and original and not sit on it's ass and it's one less player in the high end scope market. Not good news IMHO.
