Here we see through the scope pics of a 5.5-22x50 NSX, a 16pwr Lupy and a 3-9 $70 plinking scope. AS you can clearly see by the pics the $75 scope is far clearer and the NSX is only marginally worst than the Cheap-O the Lupy is nearly unusable but I did get a deer with it once. Anyway, here's the pics.

Obviously the $75 scope is far superior in every way.

How about this..

A FFP Leupold 8-25-50 TMR for $1200

or

NF 5-22 HSZS Mil/MIL for 1900

which one???

Thank you High Binder! Great review! Do you happen to have a CounterSniper to show us the best of the best for a side by side comparison?

Re: Yet another NSX vs Leupold vs. Cheap-O, with pics

I think the point is to make people aware that a camera shot of a view through a scope is subjective and unusable as a test. I have looked through a few nightforce optics and I would rate them as sharper than any leupold optic I have shot with.

I wish, I tried to buy one from a guy about a year ago so I could do a destructive test, document just how 'great' they are as I used it until it fell apart but he didn't like that idea and didn't sell it to me lol.

Finally, a real comparison. I bet all you suckers dropping big coin on the all mighty NSX are hating life right now.

My Leopold 12x target scope is way clearer than any $90 scope. The NSX are great scopes but they are not as big an advance as some people think over a good Leopold scope. Really if you want the best you have to buy German glass.

Because you might not have known these newfangled scopes have all these features. Maybe this will help. I found it on eHow.com

How to Focus a Leupold Scope

By Jeremy Hoefs , eHow Contributor
updated: January 20, 2010

Leupold has been producing sport optics, including scopes, for more than 100 years. Leupold offers optics for shooting sports, wildlife observation and military and law enforcement. Every scope that Leupold produces is waterproof and the optics are clear but do require focusing. Focusing a Leupold scope is simple with a few easy adjustments and essential for the best view, overall satisfaction and continued success.
Difficulty: Moderate

Instructions
1 Locate the reticle focus ring on the eyepiece. Unscrew the stopper, a small grooved ring that goes around the scope, enough to make the necessary focus adjustments to accommodate individual eye requirements. The stopper will remain on the scope during adjustment.

2 Point the scope up into a clear blue sky. Hold it far enough from your eye until the entire view through the scope has sky in the background. This will set the proper eye relief distance and eliminate any dark spots on the edges of the view that can prevent a proper focus. Pointing to a clear blue sky will also eliminate any background distractions and give a true focus based on your individual vision.

3 Adjust the focus ring until the reticle is completely focused. Find the range that is most comfortable with your eye and then make small adjustments until you reach a clear focus. When you find the focal point, the image will be the most distinct and clear.

4 Tighten the stopper to set the focus into position. This will help prevent any accidental adjustments to the focus that may happen if you bump the focus ring with your hand, gear or a brush.

Tips & WarningsCheck the focus periodically as the conditions change.Your eyesight changes over time so adjust the focus accordingly. The minimum focus for the Leupold LR M1 scopes is 75 yards. The Leupold Competition Series scopes also have a side focus.ReferencesLeupold

I'm absolutely blown away (and sad for humanity) that so many people think these pictures are legit. Clearly, the pictures are engineered to be bad and the idea of this thread is a poke at the other thread in so far as you simply can't judge the quality of a scope by 'through the scope pics' there are simply too many variables involved with taking pics to judge a scope that way <-- can't believe I have to actuality say that!!!

Here's a legit pic of the Lupy to show that simple camera tricks can completely change how a photo turns out.

Here's a pic from a NF of a barn that is several miles away. On the second pic you can just make out some trees, that's where the barn in the first pic is.

Pretty sweet isn't it? But I think you can get even higher quality scopes from Walmart for $20.

It was on 22 (max) for that scope. I've always thought that was a cool picture. Pretty impressive when you look at the second pic and realize just how far away that barn really is.
