Surgeon 591 action, made in OK. It has surface wear but locks up like a vault.

Two identical 28” barrels. The barrel mounted has less than 300 rounds. I didn’t do any load development for the barrel, just shot my “go to” load to see if this would shoot. .316” five shot group pictured (31.5 gr Vargut) so would likely tighten up with load development.

I bought from another member who provided these details. Barrels were done by Crimson Accuracy in Cresson TX. 1:7 twist, straight contour. Barrels are identical and were machined at the same time. Marked #2 and #3 as pictured.

Have you noticed a reduction in the quality or consistency of match 22LR ammo?

Seems recently (past 6 -12 months) winning a 22LR match is down to who has the most consistent (quality) brand of ammo. I look at what everyone is shooting. We all are having problems finding ammo, but also the quality of the batches seems degraded.

I miss a shot or two and think I'm going to loose just to find so has the other top scores. I ask their thoughts and the have said don't know why they missed.
I feel the same. I can feel that a shot is going to be on center and when it misses its a WTF moment. Can blame myself or the ammo but when I see all the others who missed I think it's the dam ammo. I don't use a chronograph. Never thought it was needed till this stuff happens.

What are your thoughts? Anyone chrono and can quantify this?

My dad has PST on his 6.5 cm and 6.8.

Reason I’ve considered the Leupold is it has more elevation adjustment than vortex

we shot my dads gun at a mile and couldn’t come close to hitting

But also not sure if the Leupold has enough elevation adjustment for a mile

It's new in the box, never mounted. Long story short, I am getting out of metallic reloading and selling due to starting a woodworking shop, and something had to go.
