Spotters 15x56 Bino's

I've been running the Tract Toric 15x56 Binos for awhile now....use to own the Meopta Meostar B1 HD 15x56s and loved them....while the Tract Torics are pretty nice I am ready to step back up the the Alpha Binos and am looking at the 15x56 Swaro SLCs and the 15x56 Meopta B1s.

So are the Swaro SLC 15x56 still the hands down best glass? Has anyone done a side by side with the SLCs and the B1s? Do the SLCs honestly see $600 better than the B1's? Low light is not a huge concern as I am not a hunter and these will be used for spotting matches.
I know the Meoptas as I said I use to own a pair so I guess I am asking more about the Swaros.

Thanks Dave

Need help building budget 6mm ARC

My budget is $1100 for this 6 mm ARC rifle. I want a threaded 22 inch or longer barrel with a diameter of at least .740 just before the threads, a 3 lug action with a 70 degree or less bolt lift, an adjustable trigger no more than 3.5 lbs and a decent stock. I have looked at Howa BA and Brownell tells me the 22 inch bbl measures .574. Also Howa's action is 90 degrees. Aero precision Solus bolt is not as yet made to fit .441 inch case head. Ruger American Gen ii has a 22 inch bbl predator model that meets most of my requirements except for the stock. KRG makes a special Bravo for the Ruger with AI mags. Boyd makes an AI Ruger kit with bottom metal in aluminum for at least one of the thumbhole stocks. If any one has experience with that conversion please give me a heads up.
any has hands on experience with that set up I would appreciate a reply. If any has knowledge and experience with any other barreled actions or rifles that might work for me I would appreciate a reply. Thank you for any response.

Kelbly Nanook 6mm Creedmoor build advice!

I just acquired a Kelbly Nanook action and am looking for advice on a first-time rifle build. I want to build a 6mm creedmoor. I know the nanook is technically a hunting action but I'm not too concerned with the rifle being super light-weight. I got a good deal on the action so I ended up taking it.

I've never put together a rifle before. 90% of my shooting is going to be off of a bench. I have a 500 yard range close to me and want to do some plinking. I also wouldn't mind being able to take it to a bench rest shoot or lay in a field with it and hunt groundhogs. Does anyone have advice on barrel contour, twist, stock/chassis, trigger?

I am thinking a heavy varmint barrel in a 1-7.5 twist. Any reputable companies with a decent lead time right now that I could order it already chambered? Bugholes?

I am not sure on a stock/chassis. Maybe a mcmillan A5?

If anyone has any recommendations it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gunsmithing Need Help Gang

Hi Gang,

So I finally got a backup 700 .308 backup setup blueprinted and it came back DOA and would not fire. It was all new parts and never fired. I have been sitting on the setup until I had the $$$ to get it set up properly and trued. The smith said they fired several rounds through it and it fired no issues. I have another 5R and zero issues with my loads and standard loads. My main go to is Federal Gold Match SMK 168G. I picked up a MDT TIMBR chassis and bedded and set everything and took to the range with first pull was no fire, which repeated 4-6 attempts. So I was scratching my head, and a bit upset, so I sent it back and they said that it fired at their shop when it left and again when I sent it back with no issues. I received it back and today got to go to the range, same issue.

As I have been racking my brain in sequence from part to part, I decided to use my bore cam and here is what I found. Is the general consensus that the bead of solder in the bottom of the bolt is the reason why the firing pin could have never fully seated to get the proper depth to strike the primer.

Looking or a second, third, forth or fifth opinion.

I appreciate the feedback, gang.

SOLD New Sako TRG 22A1 308

I have a new unfired Sako TRG 22A1 in a 308 caliber 11 twist with a 26 inch barrel. I bought this off the original owner a while back and it is still new unfired. Comes with the accessories in the picture that came with the rifle and a 10rd magazine. They are factory parts that come with the rifle. The only marks on the rifle are from when the original owner mounted a scope on it and they are on the picatinny rail. Color of the folding chassis is Tungsten gray. Moved a while back out of state and have no need for it where I am at.

4200.00 plus 50.00 for shipping to your FFL from private owner. It will be shipped in a plastic gun case with outer cardboard sleeve. Great deal for what they cost on a new rifle with no tax.

Listed elsewhere and not looking for any trades.

Night Vision FP lasers, FDA, and removal of Chevron Deference

So we all know it has been “law” that FP lasers have been limited to mil and LEO sales by the FDA. Chevron deference is what allowed the FDA to come up with BS “laws” like that. USSC tossed chevron deference to the curb thanks to a bunch of fisherman. This renders the FDAs “law” regulating sales of FP lasers completely irrelevant. Congress never passed that law, therefore it is now unenforceable.

When are NV vendors finally going to be willing to sell FP units to the citizenry? Or are we all gonna continue to play nice under the boot of unelected bureaucrats just because we like the taste?

155's in a 308 gas gun

I ran across some rounds I'd loaded with IMR 4895 and Lapua scenar 155's and they shot incredibly flat - like 8 mils to 900 yards flat out of an 18" bbl AR. Has anyone else done this? Did this wear your barrel out faster than the standard 168/175 loaded like factory? I did not see any pressure signs.

Is this a fool's errand? If I'm looking for flatter should I just go with a 6.5 CM?

Final question: has anyone used the sierra 155's in this role? Asking because they're half the price of the scenar(s).

Thanks

Chew on this

And while you are doing it, think about how things on line, all forums, and most everywhere else is either monitored, controlled, logged or nudged, to foster favor to the protected class. Any information that would give you an edge in protecting yourself from same, is rapidly removed. So this begs the question why support that breed?

Short action customs 7PRC finally done

Love this and can’t wait to get it into my hands. I started this build in March as a basic hunting rifle and went a little overboard.
*Manners PH stock
* Proof 22” Carbon (1/8tw)
* ATACR 4x20 (MOAR)
*ARC mount

They didn’t match the Cerakote job as well as I wanted but oh well. They offered to fix it and do it over but I don’t want to be a dick about it. It’s just a gun and not a show piece.

The last pic is what I wanted for the paint job and was what I sent them to match it. Wanted a little more black and not as much tan color. But no biggie .

Something's going haywire on Youtube!

Well, more so than normal haywire.

I think the YouTube censors may be "on vacation" for a bit. Let's just say I'm seeing some content in my feed this morning where the "click bait" photo is extremely graphic/sexual. They would definitely fail our MPT rules test. I mean like definitely failing the "pink/stink" rule if you could see it through all the "beaver." Given the channel names, I'm thinking these videos are of Indian origin.

Is anyone seeing the same things? I'm not touching these videos. Hopefully, the YouTube algorithm will drop them from my feed after a while. And, this feed is my "logged out" feed (ie. not logged in with one of my Google IDs). So if anything, it's the feed that's posted to my generic WAN IP address and nothing else.

I have to hope that YouTube catches on and gets rid of these things. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the female anatomy like any other guy, and as manifested by my GAOW awards. But not this kind of uncontrolled setting. Hopefully, they'll be gone by the time you read this, but I took some screenshots of the click bait entries if you want "verification." PM me if you want to see them.

rimfire suppressor for precision rifle

I am fully aware and have been preaching for years that suppressors do not belong on a precision rimfire if your chasing the razors edge of accuracy. I know that adding weight to a rimfire barrel is a big roll of the dice as far as accuracy, especially an ever changing weight. However with that said I am considering buying another rimfire suppressor for shooting out of my garage so I don’t have to wear ear pro & have it pull double duty on a small game rifle.

I have not been paying attention to the precision rimfire world the last few years and am curious if there has been any new rimfire specific suppressors released that are known for maintaining a high level of accuracy. I think the go to was the Mask and TB takedown, I have also seen good results from the old tried and true sparrow. What should I be looking at these days?

Thank you - Jesse
