Real quick… for those of you guys running a FL bushing sizing die and a mandrel. Are you mandreling/trimming before or after you tumble to get the lubricant off? I’m dry tumbling with corncob. Running 223 rem.

Currently my operation is:
Deprime
Tumble clean (corncob)
Anneal
Lube
Shoulder bump w/ FL bushing sizing die
Mandrel
Tumble to remove lube
Trim/deburr/chamfer
Prime/charge and seat bullets

Power went out around 2am, wind is ripping at times, got several pretty good limbs down that I can see with a flashlight, and we're starting to see some standing water. The eye is supposed to go directly over us around 5:30am.

Need some input on my primers condition. I'm shooting 6.5 CM 143 grain ELDX with 42.2 grain Staball 6.5. Primer is CCI BR4.

Looking to get a new scope for a 1K trainer 223 Wylde bolt. Will be used for varmints, coyotes, matches, and steel out to 1K. I have it narrowed down to 3 scopes now. Ultimately looking for the best glass and repeatable turrets.

Leupold MK5 7-35x PR2- MOA reticle
Zeiss LRP S3 6-36x ZF-MOAI reticle

Of the 3 reticles, the NF MOAR is my least favorite by far. Just never have been a huge fan of it. My favorite is probably the Leupold PR2-MOA, followed closely by the Zeiss ZF-MOA. With that said, what's everyone's thoughts and opinions on these 3 scopes?

I prepared two loads today and had two primer blowouts. I am trying to keep it simple, so please bear with me.

I am using a Zermatt TL3 action with a 26” Shilen ratchet barrel. The barrel has a twist of 1:9.

I am using brand new Starline brass in .223 Rem. with CCI 400 small rifle primers. The bullets are Sierra 69 grain TMK’s (boat tail).

The distance from the head to the ogive is 1.92”, touching the leads.

While my first handload using the 1.92” seating depth was better than the factory ammo, it had a lot of room for improvement.

The Geco factory load measures 1.851” (Ogive to head).

So decided to start there, I loaded the minimum charge of 18.3 grains of IMR 4198 and seated the bullet at 1.857”. The last of the four rounds pushed out the primer (I lost it).

Next, I tried one round of the same load using 18.9 grains of IMR 4198 (that is halfway between minimum and maximum charge. The first round blew out the primer, the shell and primer came out of the action separately.

I know I didn’t over charge as I used either the minimum charge or stayed between the minimum and maximum allowed.

My only explanation would be that the bullet was seated too deep causing too much pressure in the shell before the bullet could exit. Should the bullet ever extend down past the neck of the cartridge?

I only sized the shells full length, no crimp.

I will pull the bullets from the remaining loads until I figure out what I need to do differently. All input is appreciated. Thanks

My build “inspired by” the Honey Badger—certainly not a clone. The KAK short buffer plus Magpul SL-M lets it collapse down almost as short as the HB brace does. It’s got a 6” barrel, so more of an in-between on the Rattler and HB length wise. I’ve obviously got the tucked rail, but I think that will be changed in the future—I discuss some of the pros and cons in the video. Anyone else have a similar build?

After shooting PRC in a really heavy rain, I got home, pulled the bolt etc., stole my wife's hair dryer and dried the gun and scope as best I could. 2 months later, I decided to remount my scope, took the rig out of my bag and a string of water came from "nowhere". I couldn't find the source. Do any of y'alls have any thoughts on where water might accumulate and on how to remove it?

Forester Co-Ax press. Cover, long, and short handle. The short handle knob has worked itself off and I've "repaired" it by putting masking tape around the shaft to hold the ball handle a bit better.
