Ever watch the movie Mr. Deeds from 2002 (that hurts saying the year)

If so- does anyone else remember that scene? Does anyone else remember what profession they thought was "wicked cool" while you were in grade school? I wanted to be a fireman too and slide down those "wicked awesome poles" too. Would your childhood profession support your lifestyle these days?

Night Vision Longevity and durability of thermal optics

Not impressed.

Had a Utc X fog up late winter in the rain. Still waiting for a third party to repair it.

Just had a 2019 manufacture Utc Xii go tits up. Nuc started acting wonky. Especially after a shot. Then died and won’t turn back on.

The undisputed King don’t GAF though. Still rockin.

Was "House Hunting" ever an enjoyable experience?

For the sake of my own sanity- I have to ask the question- has this ever been "fun" for folks that went through this the 1st time? My bride and I continue to look at houses and as an example- last weekend, 3 of the 4 we had scheduled... the previous Thursday if I remember correctly got canceled because they went under contract (sight unseen/no contingencies) before we could even view them. Previously we've looked at houses and offers were already in by the time we looked at the next house on the same day. It's maddening (although they seem to go for asking price and the 'bidding wars' have died down).

I've got a level head on my shoulders but gosh dang if this isn't frustrating and it's taking a lot out of me. I love my wife but I'm letting the frustration bleed through in the process as well admittedly. I'm stressed out about the initial cost, the lot/drainage of the lot, foundation issues, roof/appliance conditions, utilities, taxes etc- and while we're touring houses and I'm looking to do a deep dive into these concerns my cohort is making comments about colors, cabinets, pantries, closet space, windows, etc. I knew what I was marrying into and it wouldn't be fair to place the blame on my wife, I know it's just a super frustrating process (for me at least) and I have no complaints about our real estate agent but dang, if this whole process isn't a giant "bag of dicks" but my question is- was it always this way or am I "chasing skirts" for home ownership? Has anyone else experienced the same "conflict of concerns/importance" with their spouse? Have you ever toured a house and understood the "cost of ownership" but worried about the Diderot Effect?

State of the Industry

I had an interesting meeting this week which caused me to thing about competition rifle (target) shooting as a global industry. And while I shoot regularly and reload (recreational) I didn't It have the answers that we being asked of me. I figured I would ask here and seek some wisdom.

1. Is the sport growing? I assume it is growing (F-Class, Palma, PRS, Benchrest..etc)
2. If it IS growing it is global, or US only?
3. Are there any estimates of participation number either US only, or better yet, globally for discipline listed above?
4. What type of global viewership/spectators are these events drawing and do they generate revenue?
5. Is there/are there an organization (s) that "own" these events or govern them?

What I am getting at...is there a world where you could see these events becoming a larger spectator sport? For example:

TV deals, venues that attract paying spectators etc..I have seen F-Class events on YouTube that have taken on a semi-offciial production value with commentators and spectator aids like digital targets...

Any thoughts, comments and information on any of this would be appreciated

Thank you

Casualties from 19 months in storage....

After 40+ years in central Florida I moved up to east Tennessee in November 2022. I moved into an apartment in Lenoir City while waiting for my house to be built near Sweetwater TN. I had all of my reloading components and equipment in storage during that time. I moved into the house about a month ago and got my storage unit stuff delivered about 2 weeks ago. On Friday evening I started unpacking and organizing my basement workshop (climate controlled). So far the only casualties of being in storage for 19 months are some of my reloading components: Redding T7 press, and a bunch of dies.

What's the best way to deal with the rust on the press and the dies?

Thanks.

Guess they didn’t get the memo .

DHS has recently yet again stated that white Christians and conservatives are the greatest threat to our “democracy”

These guys - one with DEA one with ATF must not have seen that memo- cause they went on a drinking bender and tuned up an African national- because he “may have been on a terror watch list “

putin's visit

all of the alt news sources are looking at putin's visit to no. kor. don't know what MIC #2 syas. don't watch them. it does matter and doesn't look good for the US and it's remaining allies in asia. i think his stopover in vietnam is more important. pre biden, they have been a rather dependable trading partner and rather friendly to us. yea, they are commies. who gives a shit? the VC were never gonna invade kali. i don't think ho was dumb enough to want it anyway. amazing really considering we killed a couple mil of them. vietnam was always closer to russia than china. fought china a bunch over last 1000 or so years. during VN war mao said that he would not go in like korea unless chinese nat'l territory was violated. he was busy with a cultural revolution at the time. he actually cut them off for the most part. saving VN and all SE asia from china was 1 of the scams run on us by the MIC to justify the war. as an aside they have the youngest age population in the world, opposite of japan. they had to put a stop to pol pot. chinese got pissed and it didn't go too well for china.
my point is that putin is way smarter than the fools running this country (into the ground), trump had a dialogue going with kim,a commie. we traded with tito back in the 60s/70s. was a commie that russia hated. kaddafi was chill after regan bombed his house. we trade with a bunch of muslim countries. the point is we can get along with most people,do biz,do tourist shit. we don't have to bomb and kill everyone who isn't like us and doesn't like us and is not impressed with the shinning light on the hill. need to mind our own biz and have a very strong military so people don't fuck with us. our military now is totally degraded by bad wars and incompetent traitors currently in office. think some guy in 1900 said speak (walk) softly and carry a big stick. we don't have to put up with horn of africa pirates, houthis rocketers or iranians raping our embassy. we never use our power ruthlessly when it is justified and get pissed on by savages using the mcnamara incremental bullshit. makes the MIC more $ i guess.
