6mm ARC Long Range Build

Hello all. Just joined the forum and this is my first information seeking post. I’m looking to build a 6mm ARC upper to go on my high quality 5.56 multi-cal lower. I spec’ed out and assembled all the parts for my 5.56 build about 15 years ago. So I’m not completely green. I’m looking to build the 6mm upper to be a strict bench rifle and I want to accurately shoot out to 1000 meters and beyond. I know I’ll need new magazines and I’ll have to change out the BCG, or at least the bolt head. There might be some other mods to my lower. But this post is specifically asking about the barrel and gas system. All over the internet, there are so many differing opinions about barrel length, twist rate, rifling and gas system length. I decided to go the round creator and I contacted Hornady. The tech guy said for my application I should get a 24” barrel with a 1:7 twist and a carbine length gas system with an adjustable gas block. I forgot to ask about 4 or 5R rifling. The recommended carbine length gas system seemed a bit short. So here I am asking you folks what you recommend based on your first-hand experience. Please understand I’m not looking for any advice or recommendations on barrel manufacturers or manufacturers of any part for that matter. This is strictly recon on barrel and gas system specs. Once I have gathered enough info and decided on what to get, I will work on who to get parts from. I pre-emptively thank anyone who contributes information to my build!

Need help with Meopta customer service

My meopta B1 15x took a dump this weekend during a match, it fogged up and now has double vision. I purchased it 4 years ago from camera land. I messaged Doug Sunday and he was awesome and responded to me the same day recommending I call Eric at meopta and gave he Eric’s phone number. I have call three times and left 2 messages and no response from Eric. Has anyone else tried to use the meopta warranty or another contact number I can try? I used the 1800 number.

Any help would be appreciated

I wouldn't call 25yrs ago "vintage" but

Ran across this photo today while looking for something else.

I never considered rifles that are only 25yrs old to be Vintage but after seeing some of the other threads in this sub-forum, I guess this counts.

Directly from the Way Back machine. This is me/KMW from November, 1999.
At the time, it was one of the biggest single jobs for me.

1719412964201.png

During this period, these type rifles and scopes were state of the art for Law Enforcement SWAT sniper deployment. Dig the SIMRAD mounting cleat.
Originally these were Remington Custom Shop 40X-repeaters in .308 Win. purchased by a Federal agency in the late 1980's.

My job was to re-machine/true all of the actions, clean up the triggers, surface grind recoil lugs then custom chamber and install Kriegers. Refinish had to be in matte black of course back then! It was a total of 40 rifles to be rebuilt, broken into two groups for this customer job.

Later, they cycled back through for new barrels again and McMillan A2 stocks.

I still have the test targets (3 groups from each rifle) and they were hammers!
Many of these rifles have rotated back through the KMW shop for re-barrels since then and a few are still in service but with different stocks. Most have been destroyed as they had new rifles built to take their place.

Rifles, scopes and non-gray hair have come a long way since then!

Armscorp "M21" Marked M14 NM Semi-Automatic Rifle with ART II Scope

Soooo.....

Many years ago as a young Marine, I remember my first M14 and it was love at first shot. I later became part of a small USMC sponsored shooting team (not the official USMC Rifle Team) and was issued a match M14 built by the USMC Rifle Team armorers. This rifle is what i first used to shoot 1000yd matches with only Iron Sights.

After more than 40 years, I have finally made the move to purchase a Armscorp "M21" Marked M14 NM Semi-Automatic Rifle with ART II Scope. In addition to this cool scope from the Viet Nam era, the barrel appears to be made by Krieger. I purchased it through the Rock Island Auction and am currently anxiously awaiting its delivery.

Can anyone point me to resources for training material on the ART II scope?

Forster FL sizing die, brass wouldn't go in

New die, followed the instructions included to set it up - twist in until it touches the raises ram and then another 1/8-1/4 turn.
Lubed the once fired brass inside and out, raises the ram but the brass has way too much resistance. Feels like it goes easy for the first quarter and then I practically have to hang on the ram handle to push it in. That's where I stopped. Also tried the same with new, unfired brass, same issue.

Alpha brass
6mm Dasher

I also tried removing the whole recapping unuty (that has the depriming pin and the expander ball) and run the brass just in the die body. Same issue, gets too much resistance at the same 1/4 way in.

New to this so it's likely that I'm not doing something right but I'm not sure what.

Thank you

Need CDL advice

I am considering starting a heavy equipment business where having a CDL would be beneficial.

Since our beloved Federal government has seen fit to stick their fucking nose into everything, now you need to take an approved course to even be able to test for your CDL.

What is the absolute easiest, quickest way to get a class A CDL?

Most companies want to tell you how professional and in depth their training is. IDGAF about that and just want to get the stupid stamp to make the feds happy so they fuck off and I can take my CDL test. I can already drive non synchromesh vehicles, and have driven stuff with air brakes before, long trailers, etc.

Driving the vehicle isn't the issue here, especially since 99% of my driving would be on rural roads.

Any of you know of the most down and dirty, cost effective, "approved" training course out there?

Thanks.

New CZ 457 24" 1.180 Match Barrel from L3i

This popped up a few days ago and I realized it hasn't been shared here. L3i just came out with what might be the best deal on a aftermarket barrel for the CZ 457 (At least for NRL and PRS shooters). It is a 24 inch straight 1.180 profile barrel with a match chamber and target crown. They haven't officially said where the blank comes from, but based on the diameter there are only a few options- All of them being top tier barrel manufacturers.

The 1.180 barrel diameter is a huge deal for those looking for optimal balance on their CZ 457. Based on my calculations, the barrel should weigh around 7 lbs giving you an extra 3 lbs up front over a 20.5 inch MTR barrel. This means that almost any chassis or stock you fit this to will require little to no extra weight up front for balance.

1719353165711.png

They originally priced these at ~$550, but was told by @Thesepaperwings they were able to secure a better deal due to ordering the blanks in a larger batch with the barrels for their new Stinger Action. So the price right now is $329.00 + tax and $6 for shipping. I personally think the value is huge and already placed an order. They didn't say how long this pricing will be available, but it's definitely a good deal.

Obviously no testing data yet, but based on the quality of everything else I've seen/gotten from L3i, I'm confident it'll be great. I'll post results from ammo testing, balance, etc once it comes in.

Accessories Two Vets Recon V2 LS Inverted / 55mm Ball Head

Well,

This is back up. I had pulled the original ad as I was going to keep it, but just got confirmation my 2011 build is finished and I want to recoup some funds....

Having said that, its still just as lightly used as before, only set up twice on the range to sight in a few rifles.... However, my dumba** had it riding in the back seat of my truck, and it rubbed against a metal ammo can, and scratched (removed finish) on the Ball Head (as pictured) so I am knocking off some $$.

I do want to sell this, but I'm not desperate, so please no low-ball offers. I'm pretty firm on price.

Comes with 55mm ball head with Area 419 QD Arcalock.

$700 shipped CONUS... Paypal FF or Venmo preferred.

Surgeon General Declares Gun Violence is a Public Health Crisis

Commies gonna do what commies do, which is take away guns. Or at least try to.

Idiot states that we have to get automatic weapons banned. Semi-automatic rifles are far outweighed by shot guns and hand guns. And only gangsters are converting Glocks to full auto, illegally. So, yeah, those weapons are not allowed by the law.

But that does not matter. The intent is to take away your guns.

Take all of the gun deaths. I mean, from mass shooters, to lover quarrels, to gang bangers to suicides. All of it. Not a drop in the bucket compared to the millions killed by communism, which is what this idioto in the SG office wants.

Does the action I'm looking for exist?

I'm looking for a long action with a rem 700 footprint and controlled feed bolt that I can run a side mounted iron sight on that also accepts prefit barrels.

I know American rifle company makes one but they use the springfield ejector and as a result they cut a hole in the side of the receiver where I believe the sight mounting plate would sit.

Firearms Sr25 FDE

SR25 KAC ambi lower; dual ejector chrome bolt; smooth LMT carrier. URX4. Cartel Upper. 16” barrel with 3/4x24 threads. Comes with KAC MD. Surefire MD not available even though it is pictured. I’ll be putting the Kac FH back on.….. Gen2 IR FDE cerakote

I’m looking around for pricing and here is what I’m finding:
The upper from d Wilson is over $585 and they are sold out.
Barrel;gas block almost $1k.
URX4 Rail ~$450-500.
Muzzle Device-$200.
Complete BCG $1000+
Charging handle-$150
The lower-2k
The cerakote is $1k
Total just to buy it all is around 6500 in parts costs with cerakote.

Looking to do a quick sale for $6000

Dead in LE custody

Another Amish self-deletes in Austin , seems a 35 yr old Amish man was acting erratic in a Circle K throwing things then steals a truck from a customer at the gas pumps, but only makes it about 1/2 mile before turning the wrong way into oncoming traffic and hits head on into multiple vehicles, cops take him into custody but he dies in route to hospital, such a shame , another promising Amish life lost ,hahahahaha.

Looking for .22LR recommendations

Hi all,
I am still looking for a bolt action .22LR to learn fundamentals on. I had a previous thread about a specific rifle (Howa Trakr .22LR), but I decided to start a fresh thread because the scope of that one was intended for a specific rifle. (Moderators please feel free to move relevant posts from that post to this one). I know some alternate recommendations were made in that thread, but I'd like to get it moved it moved over to this thread that is more in more scope. That being said here are my requirements.

Requirements: .22 LR Bolt action, threaded barrel (suppressor ready), I would prefer a rifle that is Rem 700 platform based but not required, heavy bull barrel if possible.

Purpose: Learn fundamentals of shooting and zeroing, doping a scope and to save money on ammo. I will not be doing any rimfire competitions or anything like that so I don't need anything expensive and fancy. In a perfect world I would like my max budget to be about $300-$500, but if that isn't possible I could budge on that some.

Rifles I am considering:
CZ 457
Savage Mark II (I was told by a friend that the bolts in Savages are a pita to remove. If there is a mod for this that would be great because the prices on them are very attractive.)
Bergara B14 (If I can get one of the cheaper models and get the same performance/features from it as the B14 minus the stock that is fine. I can always upgrade it later)
possibly a Ruger RPR

Also if anyone is selling anything like this please let me know. I will mining the PX again today. I don't have a full membership though so I can't post WTB there.

Thank you in advance

You're all terror threats (probably)

Biden DHS docs suggested Trump supporters, military and religious people are likely violent terror threats.

"A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) advisory board suggested that supporters of former President Donald Trump – as well as those who served in the military or are religious – have a greater possibility of posing domestic terrorism risks"

Check, check... and check. Damn I hit the trifecta with that one.
These fuckers are getting real worried.
